YOU SEEM SUCH A FRESH-FACED FRIENDLY HONEST TYPE. HOW ON EARTH DID YOU FALL IN WITH PIRATES?
Well we, The MacKay Pirate Family, are the honest type of pirates. We are pirate reenactors, living historians who educate people about the Golden Age of Piracy by living a pirate lifestyle.
I fell in to pirates by falling madly in love with one. I met my husband, Master Hatter Jeff MacKay, on Halloween night when he was impersonating Captain Jack Sparrow and it was magic. We enjoyed a pirate wedding and then a few years latter were blessed with our own baby Buccaneer who has grown up to be one of the most feared seven year old pirates on the seas. Our story and our love is quite romantic and with the costumes we live a fairy tale life.
I WAS VERY IMPRESSED TO LEARN THAT BEING A PIRATE, YOU NOT ONLY KNOW HOW TO READ, BUT HOW TO WRITE! WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR "LITTLE PIRATE" BOOK SERIES?
When Wilde was born I was inspired to write and illustrate a series of books called "Little Pirate". They were fun children's books that combined my passion for pirates and adventure with my love for children and writing. I however, have put the series on the shelf so to speak while I turn my attention to other projects. I am however, writing for Mutiny Magazine, a new online magazine. My column is entitled "Mermaids in The Wild". I have the wonderful privilege of interviewing the most authentic mermaids in the water today.

Our son has been raised in our pirate community. Wilde is very much a part of every adventure we have. He is a wild spirited young pirate, known by our pirate brethren as Wilde the Red Beardless. Wilde's fiery red hair, freckles and electric personality keeps the crowds roaring with laughter as he takes pirate festivals around the world by storm. He can be found threatening much bigger, much scarier, and much smellier pirates. He stands strong against the most notorious pirates killing them with his wit ">YOU ARE ONE OF THE RAREST BREEDS I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED -- BOTH PIRATE AND MERMAID. HOW DOES THAT WORK?A Pirate by land and a Mermaid by sea, says I. With a drop of salt water I lose my sea legs for a mermaids tail. My Mer-Sister Sandy Foster and I began the Rogue Mermaid Pod in the North West with the sole purpose of having fun, spreading joy and encouraging women. With the growing interest in mermaids we founded the Northwest Mermaid Pod in 2012 and have enjoyed a diverse group of beautiful women, who all share the same interest. Together we have participated in numerous swims, events and charities.
YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELVES AS THE PIRATES WHO GIVE, RATHER THAN TAKE. CAN YOU SHARE SOMETHING ABOUT THE VARIOUS CHARITABLE EVENTS YOU'VE BEEN PART OF THAT HAVE MEANT THE MOST TO YOU?
We know that not all treasure is Silver and Gold and we to do our part to help those both in and outside of our pirate community. As Pirates we give in many ways. We participate in numerous charity events throughout the year. It seems that most recently our charitable events have been to promote the fight against cancer, on numerous fronts, such as Childhood Sarcoma, Lymphoma, and Breast Cancer.
RUMOR HAS IT YOU'VE BEEN NOMINATED FOR THE ORDER OF LEVIATHAN. ARE YOU AT LIBERTY TO TELL US ANYTHING ABOUT THAT OR WOULD WE RECEIVE BLACK SPOTS FOR KNOWING TOO MUCH?

Established in 2013, Evermore Park LLC was founded by Ken Bretschneider to build a theme Park like none other. My bucket list is never ending. I have many, many things I still want to do with my family and friends, many involving costumes, make believe and glitter. I think Helen Keller said it best when she said, "LIFE IS EITHER A DARING ADVENTURE OR NOTHING."
Working with the Evermore Team and creating the theme park is a dream job, the creative fun we will get to have will surely help me cross a few adventures off the list. The real treat is working side by side with the love of my life.
