Wicca is a nature based religion that is often known as The Craft. This device is generally used for scrying, mixing herbs and brews or for burning incense, which is very important for communication with the spirit world.
A wooden pentacle is present on most altar settings because it is the symbol of the religion. In this form it is representative of the Northern direction and of the element of Earth. This item is generally used as a tool to focus strength and energy when casting spells or doing other ritualistic work because it is a sign of protection and blessings.
Wands made of naturally formed crystals are often used in ceremonies to call the circle by releasing energy in each direction as it is pointed. Different crystals have their own powers and are commonly used to draw away negative energy or to heal. To keep all Wiccan altar supplies in a safe place, most practitioners will purchase a specially carved ritualistic box in which to keep the tools of their craft.
