We all want to know why we are here. What is our mission in life? The people who know it are easy to spot; their lives shine with meaning. Their perception of their life's purpose gives them the strength to live through the rough times as well as to enjoy the good. Many people, however, are confused ~ or completely in the dark ~ about their reason for living.
This lack of self~understanding and direction is a health problem itself, in a sense, for it can lead to all sorts of emotional stress, including depression, anxiety, and fatigue. When these stresses or negative emotions become entrenched, they can contribute to the development of illness. It's not only our mind that wants to know our mission ~ this knowledge is vitally important to our body and spirit as well. Lack of knowledge of our mission can become a destructive force in our relationships; we can hurt others around us as well as ourselves. If we don't have a clear sense of how to see the bigger picture when things go wrong, we are not able to respond appropriately to events or people.
From a cosmically practical point of view, we live in a world filled with many souls who have no idea whatsoever why they are here or what they are supposed to be doing. The absence of spiritual and emotional orientation have become epidemic. The further we stray from our true mission in life, the more frustrated we become, and the more out of sync our energy will be. However, by knowing your mission, you can live your life in ways that makes best use of your energy. When you are working well with your energy, you are also creating the best expression of your personal power. You are living in accord with your Sacred Contract.
In the process of awakening, you inevitably identify the patterns of thoughts and beliefs that you have used to interpret yourself and the world. These interpretations have become cellular memories and carry the emotional energy charge that affects your biography and consequently your biology. In detecting the emotional charge in your biography, you can begin to see how the fragments of your history have worked together in ways that have affected your past, your present, and the state of your health. This has become known as symbolic sight"," and enables you to get back your energy or spirit and heal emotionally, spiritually, and sometimes even physically. It is also an important method of working with your energy to bring your Sacred Contract into focus.
Our overall energy patterns are reflected in our individual cells, our individual souls also hum actively within a kind of global soul comprising all life on the planet. Our words, thoughts, deeds, and visions influence our individual health just as they affect the health of everyone around us. As vital parts of a larger, universal Spirit, we each have been put here on earth to fulfill a Sacred Contract that enhances our personal spiritual growth while contributing to the evolution of the entire global soul.
However, our life's mission, or Contract, cannot be defined or measured simply by our external life alone. Your purpose is not only your career, hobbies, or romantic relationship. A Contract is your overall relationship to to your personal power and your spiritual power. It is how you work with your energy and whom you give it to. It is also how much you are willing to surrender to divine guidance. Although a Contract is not the physical details of your life, you can use these details to figure out what your Contract is.
Some of the ways that energy works is that it organizes itself around our emotional centers, or chakras. Yet an organizing principle even greater than the interplay of the chakras is shaping the energy within each of us ~ and shaping our lives as it does so. Universal forms of cosmic intelligence known as archetypal patterns populate our minds and lives in ways that affect us deeply. Though we are generally unaware of these patterns of archetypes, they are shared in many people's thoughts and emotions, across cultures and countries.

I've been under the weather with the flu which means I haven't had a lot of energy to do much more than watch TV and read - and, of course, when ill (and always) my taste in literature does not extend to the high brow.
Instead, I've been reading a good old love story by Nicholas Sparks called True Believer which wouldn't matter blog-wise, except that one of the characters made the most compelling pasta sauce with only three ingredients that I just had to try.
A three ingredient sauce made with San Marzano tomatoes that was simply divine!
Of course, I had to share!
INGREDIENTS
* 2 28 oz tins San Marzano Tomatoes
* 2 medium onions, peeled and cut in half
* 1/2 cup butter
DIRECTIONS
Pour the tomatoes, onions, and butter into a large saucepan and bring to a boiling simmer over medium high. Stir until the butter melts, turn heat to medium low, cover and simmer for an hour and a half stirring periodically.
Serve over spaghetti or linguini with some grated parm and enjoy!

The shortest day and the longest night in the ever turning calendar of the seasons, Yule is classified as a "low holiday" or lesser celebration on the Wheel of the Year, but it has always been one of my favorite observances. If you live as far north as we do, this festival in the heart of winter is one to observe with thanksgiving and reflection, with song, mulled cider, fine munchies, tales, firelight and rowdy vibrant fellowship.
From this hallowed moment onward, we will gain a few minutes of precious sunlight every day until the Summer Solstice on June 21. Let the bells ring out, and the games begin, but first, there is the shoveling of snow, for we are in the midst of a blizzard here in the north, and the world beyond the windows is white, white, white. It will remain that way for several days and nights to come, no worries about a white Christmas this year...
For some reason, I always find my Yule post vaguely unsatisfying - I write and rewrite, scan DVD after DVD in my archive, searching, always searching, for an image which will somehow encapsulate the magic of this ancient snowbound holiday. When I have finished and uploaded my post, I continue to feel that I have not done justice to the day and its timeless rites of illumination.
Sandy Jenson's lovely poem is printed in the frontispiece of one of my favorite books on solstice observances, Richard Heinberg's "Celebrate the Solstice: Honoring the Earth's Seasonal Rhythms Through Festival and Ceremony", published by Quest in 1993. Her poem is a poignant tribute to this stormy winter day on which we celebrate the triumphant return of old Helios, the ascendance of light in the fertile darkness of winter.

Myself, I like to keep things simple.Whatever you do to add the infusion, get into the tub and soak for a time, ensuring that you immerse your whole body including your head and hair. How long you should remain in the water varies person to person, but most people recommend you stay for at least 5 minutes. I like to stay 30 minutes when it comes to magical baths. When you first get into the water, concentrate earnestly on releasing all the hurt and bad feelings in you, and undoing any physical damage which events may have caused (people have been known to have stress-induced heart attacks after losing a loved on, not to mention the more common anxiety attacks and depression that can also follow such events.) It is also an uncrossing ingredient, and if you think that someone may have done malicious work to ruin your relationship, this can also help ease things.At this point, you've really got to consider whether this is going to be worth it. Lots of people who start out feeling sure this is the route for them give up after a few weeks because it's just too much sacrifice.
