Happy New Age New Year 2012
NORMALIZING NECROMANCY:TEMPTING THE CHURCH TO TALK WITH THE DEAD

"The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, "would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy "should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem. "(Lamentations 4:12)

Welcome to the year 2012-the much-publicized year of the Mayan writings that prophesy the End of the World as we know it. But what is our spiritual adversary "really" up to? And how does he attempt to accomplish his plan to infiltrate and overturn Biblical Christianity, replacing it with his "new" worldview-a worldview that will attempt to scientifically prove through quantum physics that "we are all God" because God is "in" everything-a new worldview that states that humanity is about to take a "quantum leap" into a newly evolved state of "being" (counterfeit of "born again") that will usher in a "New Age" of "world peace". The Devil's "Christ" -Antichrist-will, of course, be the centerpiece of this counterfeit millennium-this New World Order.

Who would have believed even just a short time ago, that today's professing evangelical Church would be buying into this New Age deception and exponentially imploding the way it is-literally catapulting a once biblical church into the heretical panentheistic teachings of the New Age? For example:

* Robert Schuller featured New Age leader Gerald Jampolsky on his worldwide television program "Hour of Power". On another program, Schuller stated that "God is in every single human being."
* Schuller's disciple Rick Warren teaches that God is "in" everything and uses Eugene Peterson's "The Message" as his primary "Bible" translation in his book "The Purpose-Driven Life". Eugene Peterson inserted the key to all magic and mysteries-the key occult/New Age phrase "as above, so below" that signifies that God is "in" everything-into his "translation" of The Lord's Prayer.
* Meanwhile Warren has developed partnerships with global internationalists. And this past year he brought on three "guru doctors" with deep ties to the New Age to direct his health care plan.
* Rick Warren and Emergent leader Brian McLaren heretically echo New Age matriarch Alice Bailey's teaching that" prophecy is none of our business".
* Controversial "evangelical" leader Leonard Sweet, with deep roots in the Leadership Network, introduced the New Age tactic of using quantum physics to seemingly "prove" that God is "in" everything while citing New Age patriarch Pierre Teilhard de Chardin as "20th century Christianity's major voice." Sweet also cites numerous New Age leaders as his "role models" and "heroes."
* Bible teacher Gayle Erwin endorsed Paul Young's unbiblical novel "The Shack", stating that it "teaches powerful theological lessons." Evangelical Pastor Steve Berger describes "The Shack" as being "spiritually profound" and "theologically enlightening."
* Merging "Emergent" leaders like Brian McLaren, Rob Bell, and Tony Jones have run roughshod through the church wresting Scripture from unstable souls as they demean the reality of Hell and "churchy things like doctrine."
* Rick Warren's doctoral mentor C. Peter Wagner, regarding himself as a modern-day apostle, flew to Lakeland, Florida to anoint Todd Bentley-a man who kicked the "Holy Spirit" into people with his combat boots and was about to divorce his wife.
* Wagner has set up a global apostolic movement with the goal of taking over the 7 mountains of culture in the world, and his IHOP disciples have now mainstreamed themselves into the Christian Right in America.
* Evangelical church leaders are becoming involved in the same New Age 2012 date-setting that the New Age leaders are promoting, and some are even expecting visits from extraterrestrials.
* Rodney Howard Brown and the so-called Toronto Blessing's mid-1990's "Holy Laughter" revival was a sign of the times as the enemy of our souls laughed through professing Christians and mocked the church. And the latest fad is to divorce Baal!

The list goes on and on as church pastors and Christian leaders sat by in silence and let it all happen. Some even denied any of this was going on! Deceived and deceiving, today's church, while attempting to reach the world has "become" the world.

ENCOUNTERING THE DEAD

Unbelievable as it sounds, one of the latest New (old) Age temptations to confront both the world and the church is to encourage spiritual and religious seekers to talk with the dead. In this maneuver we can see the adversary's ploy is to further open the door to a seducing spirit world (1Timothy 4:1). DEMONIC SPIRITS THAT IMPERSONATE DECEASED LOVED ONES WILL ATTEMPT TO CONVEY NEW UNDERSTANDINGS AND NEW REVELATIONS THAT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO A NEW WORLDVIEW. This will ultimately lead to a deceptively contrived world peace. This deceptive "peace" plan was warned about in the Bible (Daniel 8:25, Matthew 24:3-5, 1 Thessalonians 5:3, 1 Tim 4:1, 1 John 4:1, Revelation 13, etc.).

This temptation to talk and listen to the dead has already entered the church. And it is entering through mainstream evangelical doorways. Pastor Steve Berger and his wife Sarah have written a book entitled "Have Heart: bridging the gulf between heaven and earth". In this book they describe how their recently deceased son, Josiah, has appeared to them and to members of their church in a variety of ways. These appearances are described as missions from God as Josiah allegedly makes visitations, worships with the church, and imparts spiritual information to those who will listen. The book then details a long series of apparitions of Josiah that have reportedly appeared to people in dreams or revelations across America. In their book, the Bergers attempt to make the case that this is normal and this is biblical-even synchronistic (what the Bergers call "God Nods")-and that believers should expect these visitations from their loved ones from Heaven.

BERGERS BOOK ENDORSED BY CHRISTIAN LEADERS

If Pastor Steve Berger was an obscure pastor with a tiny congregation and a low-profile book, we would not be issuing this warning about what he and his wife are writing and what it portends for the church. But this is not the case. The Bergers have a large congregation of over 4,000 people in Leipers Fork, Tennessee and their book legitimizes and normalizes, even encourages the idea of believers interacting with the dead. It has already been featured on several widely viewed television programs like Robert Schuller's "Hour of Power" and Canada's "Huntley Street". In addition to these and other venues, Steve Berger was invited to speak about his book at a 2011 National Worship Conference that featured a number of Emergent and evangelical leaders like Chuck Smith Jr., Miles McPherson, Chuck Fromm, and which advertised as a keynote speaker the "Christian" New Age sympathizer Leonard Sweet. But perhaps one of the most dangerous aspects of the Berger book is the endorsements of high profile leaders such as Calvary Chapel Pastor Greg Laurie and longtime Bible teacher Chuck Missler. Not surprisingly, "The Shack's" author Paul Young is also listed alongside Laurie and Missler as an endorser of the book.

WALKING INTO THE NEW AGE TRAP

In his 2011 novel "The Twelfth Insight: The Hour of Decision", New Age leader James Redfield tells of an ancient manuscript that describes "a secret approach to spirituality that is silently arriving in the second decade of the twenty-first century."(p. 178) Rachel, a main character in Redfield's book, attempts to legitimize talking with the dead as a means of getting updated information from Heaven. THE DEAD WILL PROVIDE INFORMATIONIN THE FORM OF NEW REVELATIONTHAT WOULD EXPLAIN GODS "REAL" PLAN FOR BRINGING WORLD PEACE TO A DANGEROUSLY TROUBLED WORLD. Rachel explains:

"[I]f we follow the Synchronicity, we will be able to learn from those in Heaven in a direct way, and that will elevate us into the next level of consciousness."(p. 178)

Later in that same conversation, Rachel relates an incident regarding her deceased mother:

"And then one day, without anything pointing out the way, I just decided to tell her how I felt out loud, as though she were there. Immediately, I began to intuit what she might say back to me, only I realized it wasn't something I would necessarily have been able to guess. That's when I realized that I was having an interaction with her."

"The idea of communication with the Afterlife seemed too strange at first, and I stopped for a while, but the memory of the experience was so energizing and profound, I gradually began to communicate with her more often. Eventually, she told me how much she regretted the way she had raised me to think of men. She said it was all a mistake that tormented her, and that now she holds the Agape and speaks from truth-and she wishes she had known earlier, so she could have taught me this new way."

"...Don't you see?... The Document says we can begin to communicate with those in the Afterlife and clear all our resentments and issues with them. All we have to do is use more of our power to tune in and have a conversation. It's never too late. And there is so much "more" they want to communicate to us."

"In fact, my mother said THEY DESPERATELY NEED TO SPEAK WITH US, RIGHT NOW, AT THIS CRUCIAL POINT IN HISTORY. THEY KNOW THE REAL PLAN FOR THE HUMAN WORLD, AND ITS TIME FOR US ON THIS SIDE TO UNDERSTAND."(p. 179)[emphasis added]

Because a similar kind of talking and interacting with the dead is now being introduced into the church by the Bergers, and because their book is being endorsed by Greg Laurie, Chuck Missler and others, the Discernment Research Group has asked Pastor Larry DeBruyn to do a book review of the Bergers' book "Have Heart: bridging the gulf between heaven and earth". While sympathetic to the Bergers, and to any who have lost loved ones, Pastor DeBruyn will explain how our adversary can use something like the Bergers' tragedy to introduce new teachings into the church. To be specific, Pastor DeBruyn will scripturally refute the unbiblical practice of interacting with and listening to spiritual entities that claim to be deceased loved ones. He will also address a number of the other new scriptural interpretations the Bergers introduce to make their case that it is now normal, even desirable, to encounter loved ones that have passed on.

Follow-up articles on the Herescope blog will expose how similar tactics are currently being used by New Age leaders to present New Revelation to convince people that the world is "not" coming to an end, but just to the end of the age and the beginning of the New Age. These New Age leaders argue that these new understandings and New Revelations are being brought forth through channelers, psychics, mediums-and yes, even those who have passed on.

What these deceived New Age leaders are saying is that, armed with these new revelations and understandings, the world will be able to avert what would otherwise be worldwide crisis and disaster. They say December 22, 2012 will be the first day of the new beginning, the new era-the New Age.

Pastor DeBruyn's article will warn how books and teachings like "Have Heart" can actually lead the church into this deceptive New Age scenario.

"Stay tuned...."

One Small Step For Man
I think I mentioned the other day that I had an old neighbor, Bud, who did not believe in the moon landing. He was not alone in his insistence that the whole thing had been staged in a Hollywood studio. There are websites out there supporting this view.Did we land on the moon?Back during my Chicago days, I was visiting an office building for some fund raising. We know how much I love fundraising. I went to visit a man who was a big deal at Pullman Standard. As far as I know these are people that make cars on trains. I never bothered to learn a single thing about my contact there or the company. My spiel really doesn't change anyhow.I was sitting in this man's office. He had a picture of the earth taken from space. On his desk, he had a little Apollo landing spaceship model. He had another picture of someone walking on the moon. "Hmph," I thought. "Great pictures. Guess he likes the space program." When suddenly I realized I had his name before: James McDivitt. He was an Apollo astronaut! The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. An Apollo astronaut! I was thrilled to meet him. I asked him what it was like to walk on the moon. He said, "The moon is really boring. It's gray and brown and that's that. There is really not much to say about it." So I asked him about being an astronaut. He told me a few amusing things about that. For example, he said that every single person who ever went into space threw up at some point.Who knew?Did we go to the moon? I think we did. But I can't prove it.Which brings me to today's question from a reader: My sister is getting confirmed soon (~2 months time), but she's told me that she doesn't believe in God or anything. My parents want her to get confirmed, so she's just kinda going through the motions.. I don't think anything she's going to be taught in her preparation class is going to help change her mind/educate her about Catholicism, at least if they are still the same as when I did them, as I was literally taught nothing about the Catholic faith (not wishing to insult the lady running it, but I think that's true.. A lot of it was probably also down to my own immaturity though)... :/ Anyway - what can I do? Should she not get confirmed at all? Will the confirmation even be valid if she doesn't believe in God etc? My parents want her to be confirmed so that 'she'll have something to come back to when she's older.' One other thing - can you think of a good patron saint for her? I've suggested loads of names (e.g. Monica, because she prayed for her son's conversion for years, so I reckon she's a dab hand, Mary, because you may as well go straight to the top, and so on and so on..), but she's rejected them all... Thank you sister! :)Truthfully, she should not get Confirmed at all. But we both know that's not going to happen. There are a few things you can do, but I think you could talk yourself blue in the face and not convince her of anything. You may as well go argue with Bud Gillman about the moon landing. Here are things you can do:Pray a lot. I'd suggest St. Paul, the patron saint of dramatic conversion. Or St. John the Baptist. He certainly shook people up. Or St. Ignatius of Antioch.Get a green scapular.Set a good example.God is there, just like the moon. Confirmation is the point where you confirm your willingness to be a Catholic. So, even if she marches around in a pretty dress or a robe and gets a slap from the Bishop, she isn't going to be confirmed in anything. Sacraments are a two way street. If you go to confession and you're not sorry or you purposely lie or omit sins, your reconciliation does not take place. You haven't reconciled a thing. The moon is there. You still have to fly over and land on it.All is not lost. God's not going anywhere. He is going to be there for your sister no matter what. Who knows, maybe the instruction will take! Or maybe, on her way to the altar and the Bishop, she'll have an epiphany! Maybe after it is all over with and she'll realize that she really does want to be a part of this and then 'poof' she will be. Since God has been there waiting the whole time, her Confirmation will just be....retroactive.As for the Confirmation name, since she doesn't really believe in any of this Bishop-y mumbo jumbo in the first place, I'll wager she's holding out for a cool sounding name, period. She doesn't care that the city of Santa Monica was named for St. Monica because when the Spanish conquistodors first arrived there, the first thing they saw was a rock that was burbling water non-stop and it reminded them of St. Monica, endlessly crying for her son.I would suggest a very cool saint with a very cool sounding name. How about Maximillian Kolbe? There's a guy who took his Soldier of Christ status very seriously! And her confirmation name could be "Max".It turns out, by the way, that Mr. McDivitt never actually went to the moon himself. He was the commander on Apollo 9, which orbited the earth and he was in charge of the the Apollo program from the ground. Perhaps that's why he didn't want to talk about the moon.

Struggling With Relationships
It seems impossible for me to have semi-normal and healthy relationships.

The relationships I have fall into these categories...

They're dysfunctional

They're estranged (I am the only one in my family who is a Christian to my knowledge; my family sees no difference between religion and God, they view it as one and the same; they also 'compartmentalize' when it comes to God; it should only be one aspect and it should be swept under the rug with witnessing to people; to witness to others is seen as rude/inappropriate).

As a result of being the only one in my family who is a Christian that I know of, it makes it very difficult to relate to them. Even if they were saved (and I don't know if they are or not) we are polar opposites with personalities.

The 'friendships' I have are seem to be one-sided. If I don't initiate, then I basically don't hear from my friends; they are basically too busy with their lives to initiate and/or reciprocate with a phone/e-mail/text.

I have no issue with initiating in and of itself; however I thought a friendship was supposed to be give-and-take, and yet I see myself doing all the work. To me if they can't take 5 minutes out of their schedule to send an e-mail/phone call/text then it's like they don't care. I am also constantly hearing 'life is busy' like being busy basically justifies blowing somebody off; I get people have their own lives and I am not asking to monopolize their time. However I also know that if a friendship or relationship of any kind matters to you, you're going to make time for it and at least try to make an effort at it; neither really seem to be happening in the friendships I have.

I see people at my church, who have relationships that while aren't perfect by any means, they seem healthy and normal.

Why can't I get these types of relationships? I really can't relate to anybody my age; we are at completely different life stages. They are living on their own and married to the love of their life; most of them are raising families with this person too. They work full time jobs.

None of those things apply to me with where I'm currently at in my life. I get that we have the commonality of being Christians and we both worship, love serve the same God etc. However I have to more common ground than that with them, or it's going to be impossible to relate to them.

Steve Wohlberg And The 2520 Prophecy

Steve Wohlberg comments on the 2520 Prophecy

The 2520

By Steve Wohlberg

[Oct. 2011] The "2520" is being discussed in my home church. After reading arguments on both sides of the controversy, here are my (present) views. Note: This paper was not written for the general public, but only for those already familiar with the topic.

First, those who support the 2520 conclude:

1. It is a divine prophecy embedded in Leviticus 26

2. Leviticus 26:18 says that if Israel disobeyed God, He would punish her "seven times" for her sins. Those "seven times" should be interpreted as "seven years," or 2520 days (based on a 360-day Hebrew calendar year), and then, based on the day-for-a-year principle, viewed as 2520 prophetic years.

3. The 2520 began in 677 BC (William Miller's view, when King Manasseh of Judah was taken to Babylon), and ended in 1844.

4. The 2520 "prophecy" is a "second witness" to the 2300-year prophecy because both end in 1844. This "second witness" is necessary to maintain the integrity of the 2300-year prophecy because "out of the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established" (2 Cor. 13:1).

5. Adventists have lost sight of the 2520 and should start teaching it again.

Some of the main arguments used to support the above conclusions are:

1. Ellen White wrote that God led William Miller in his studies in the early 1800s.

2. William Miller believed in the 2520 prophecy based on his study of Leviticus 26.

3. Ellen White wrote that God led in the publication of the 1843 and 1850 Millerite charts, and both charts contained the 2520 prophecy (based on Miller's views).

4. Ellen White also stated that those charts fulfilled Habakkuk 2:1-4.

After reading arguments on both sides of this controversy, here is my (present) position:

1. I have read Leviticus 26 many times in the last month or so and my honest evaluation is that the chapter itself does not easily support the teaching that "seven times" represent "seven years," or 2520 days, or 2520 years. Four times (verses 18,21,24,28) God says that He will punish Israel "seven times" for her sins if she disobeys Him. The wording implies that these will be four separate, sequential "seven times," each falling with increasing severity if the preceding punishment fails to produce repentance. Additionally, the original Hebrew word translated "seven times" (sheba) is an adverb (indicating intensity), not a noun (indicating duration). Thus the proper translation of the word "sheba" in Leviticus 26 should be "sevenfold," not "seven times" representing "seven years."

2. Numbers 14:34 is the first time the day-for-a-year principle is mentioned in the Bible. But in Leviticus 26, it isn't mentioned, or even hinted at.

3. The book of Judges reveals that many of the curses listed in Leviticus 26 had already started falling on Israel long before 677 BC.

4. The 70-week/2300-day prophecy begins with a clear and easily recognizable "command to restore and to build Jerusalem" (Dan. 9:25). Leviticus 26 contains no such clear starting point for a supposed 2520 prophecy.

5. Leviticus 26 is also filled with conditional "if...then" statements (see verses 3,4,23,24,27,28,40,42). "If" Israel obeys, blessings come. "If" not, curses will follow. Thus free will is involved. This strongly suggests that God's "I will punish you seven times" warning cannot be a day-for-a-year prophetic timeline with clear starting and ending dates. By contrast, the 70-week/2300-day timeline is unconditional, with easily identifiable starting and ending points.

6. In Babylon, Daniel realized that Israel's prophesied 70-year captivity was soon to end (Dan. 9:2). His prayer (verses 3-19) recognized that the curses recorded "in the law of Moses" (verse 13) had overtaken Israel, yet he hoped they would end soon and that Israel would be restored (verse 17). Such hope would be impossible if Daniel thought the Lev. 26 curses would continue for 2520 years! During the rule of Persia, the curses were reversed, Israel returned home, and once again God placed His "tabernacle" (see Lev. 26:11) among them. Now blessings had come.

7. When the next prophecy "chart" was published in 1863 (the year the SDA church was organized), the 2520 was left out. From 1863 until today the Adventist Church has never officially recognized the 2520 as a real prophecy at all.

8. One reason for this is because James White rejected the 2520. In a January 26, 1864 Review article he stated that the "2520" theory was unbiblical. Uriah Smith, in the Appendix of his book, Daniel and the Revelation, pps 784-785, agreed with James. Both believed the adverb "sheba" meant intensity, not duration, that the 2520-prophecy lacked biblical support, and that Adventists shouldn't preach it.

9. In The Great Controversy, chapters 18-24, Ellen White wrote in great detail about the life of William Miller, about how he discovered the 2300-day prophecy, and about the history of the Advent Movement, and yet she never mentions the 2520 even once. If such a prophecy did exist and was significant, then why didn't she mention it in her most important work when discussing the Millerites? Not only that, but during her entire 70-year ministry she never mentioned it anywhere.

10. I have seen no convincing proof that the 2300-year prophetic timeline must have a "second witness" to validate it, or that this witness must be the 2520. The original "out of the mouth of two or three witnesses" statement applied to civil court cases (see Duet. 17:9), not prophetic timelines. Other biblical applications don't apply it to prophetic timelines either (see John 8:17; Matt. 18:16; 2 Cor. 13:1). But even if the 2300-year prophecy should require a "second witness" to its validity, it seems to me that Revelation 10 and 14, plus the existence of Adventist Church itself (which grew out of 2300-day prophecy), would more than suffice. Then there are the 1260, 1290 and 1335 time periods (Daniel 12:7,11,12), which, when linked together, also point to 1844, providing even more support. The fact is that from 1863 until today, Adventist evangelists haven't needed the 2520 to validate either the 2300-year prophecy, or the Adventist movement in general.

2520 proponents may still argue: "But Ellen White said that angels guided William Miller. Miller believed the 2520. The 2520 prophecy is on the first two charts. Ellen White endorsed both charts, plus she said the Millerite charts fulfilled the prophecy of Habakkuk 2:1-4. Therefore the 2520 must be an important prophecy from God!"

This chain of arguments sounds good, but the biggest problem I see is that its final conclusion(that the 2520 prophecy must come from God) lacks even one clear "Thus saith the Lord" to support it. Such reasoning also neglects the core issue that Lev. 26: 18,21,24,28 doesn't really support the 2520 in the first place. "There is no prophetic period in Lev. xxvi," wrote James White in the Review, and trying to "imagine that such a thing exists" is "beating the air." Uriah Smith agreed. Yes, Ellen White wrote that angels guided William Miller, and that God's hand was on the Millerite charts, but she also wrote that angels of God guided James White and had "oversight" of the Review.

I saw that the papers [R and in her 70 years of public ministry, she never specifically mentioned the 2520 even once. It's obvious that Adventism as a whole no longer believes the 2520, and it seems to me that there are two possible reasons for this: 1) the 2520 was lost sight of due to an Adventist failure, or 2) advancing light and careful Bible study led Adventist leaders to realize that the 2520 was a really an unbiblical, unnecessary, and unfortunate distraction away from our core biblical message. Presently, I favor the latter, and hate to see people divided over this issue. One thing's for sure: "Preach the Word" (2 Tim. 4:2) is our mandate.

In roleplaying games, one architect takes on the post of the gamemaster (or Guardian, in "Fascination of Cthulhu"), moment the other architect(s) detect the roles of architect characters (PCs) in the game. The gamemaster after that acts out the roles of characters who aren't being guided by players: these are called non-player characters (NPCs).From its origin, "Fascination of Cthulhu" was thought to be telepathic and easy to pick at. Badge attributes routine a 3D6 twist and turn, and the other "Fascination of Cthulhu" workings are even simpler. Rationally all rolls influential gain or failure of a holder are headstrong via the standard of percentile miserable. This middling that there's less forgery with miserable of the same types, and the aim of a percentile unpremeditated of gain is extremely easy for beginners and educated bunch to grab.Use this information sheet to pick at "Fascination of Cthulhu" directly. Play a part system, pre-generated characters, and a classic print are included. You drive need to supply your own miserable.

Response To Slanders Against St Nikolai Velimirovich And St Justin Popovich
"A response to "religious analyst" Mirko Dordevi'c in the article "A Surplus of Saints" by Bishop Atanasije. A deficiency of intelligence and integrity, a surplus of petty pretentiousness and malice."

May 11, 2010

Mirko Dordevi'c, a self-proclaimed "religious analyst" (of the sort for whom only the code for semi-literate journalist applies), wrote a wretched, wicked article in "Danas" on 10 May 2010 (p. 6) titled "A Surplus of Saints" in which he repeats yet again his vicious and stupid slandering of St. Nikolai of Zica, now also adding St. Justin the New of 'Celije, following his recent addition to the diptych of the saints, which was done at the recent convocation of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of our Church (not "his proclamation as a saint" by the "Synod of the SPC", as the unknowing know-it-all M.D. writes, in addition to a host of other lies and misinformation).

Dordevi'c's article is full of all kinds of sage commissarisms, such as the incoherent mention of St Cyprian of Carthage as "now certainly outdated" (according to whom? - who but the petty politician Mirko Dordevi'c?). And further on, Communist lies about Nikolai's "support for the ideology of Ljoti'c" (the recently studied German UDBA file on Bishop Nikolai says quite the opposite: Nikolai was never a "Ljoti'c idealogue"); and that he was "a man of hate," which the great Nikolai never was. This is followed by the slanderous claim that Justin was "the head of the so-called secret commission" of Nedi'c and his minister, Joni'c, although we know that Justin was not, because of opposition from the German occupiers, and in the end returned to his faculty. During that entire time he was suspect by the government during the occupation and after the occupation (the name of Dusan Glumac is cited by M.D. in a distorted light), like we also know that Justin's proposal on relations between the Church and state (which we have published) was not accepted at the Ravna Gora congress in the village of Ba, because Justin was always an advocate of freedom for the Church in opposition to any state. His next lie is how Nikolai "fled from Yugoslavia", although we know that he was taken to the German concentration camp Dachau and subsequently proclaimed by Tito's communist regime as "public enemy number one"(his picture with this caption has been exhibited in the National Museum in Belgrade). This is followed by the ignorant assertion that "an Oxford University commission" rejected Justin's doctoral thesis on Dostoevsky, although Justin at that time was studying at a university extension seminary for Serbian refugee students, and that is why he went to Athens in 1921 to acquire his university degree, with which he could then write and defend his doctorate in Athens. Then we have the dilettante thesis that "no one yet has analyzed how much Justin as a dogmatist owes to Antonije Hrapovicki", clueless about the existence of the fundamental study of Dr. Bogdan Lubardi'c on the relationship between Justin and the Russian philosophical and theological tradition. Furthermore, he says Justin "gives the impression of being anti-historical and old-fashioned"! And an even more stupid claim - that Justin is regarded as "just an example of school theology" when quite the reverse is true, as attested by Justin's enormous influence throughout the Orthodox world precisely because of his neopatristic synthesis, the complete opposite of "school theology", which is actually represented, albeit in dilettante fashion, by the highly learned and all-knowing Mirko Dordevi'c because it is the only thing he knows.

The pretentiousness of this dilettante "religious analyst" when he proclaims judgments such as those in "A Surplus of Saints" as "an act of canonization of a purely political nature and has brought nothing good to either the Church nor the Serbian state"(!) - for only M. D. has been invited to assess and evaluate what is "good" for the Serbs and Serbia. We should also mention Dordevi'c's lethargy and backwardness in following the critical publications and translations into world languages of the collected works of Father Justin. If this was not the case, he would have looked, at least superficially, at the 20 volume collection of Justin's works, as well as the latest edition on Justin's "Notes on Ecumenism" where Justin - unlike the narrowly conservative Artemije - shows himself to be a theologian and prophet of theanthropic ecumenism, which encompasses everything related to logos, assembly, all-human, because according to him "ecumenism is the essence of the Church."

Dordevi'c has no idea how the Orthodox Christian world has long accepted Father Justin as a saint and theologian of universal significance (soon there is to be an international symposium about him in Southern Italy), and the Serbian Church has already been celebrating him as such for several decades, that is, even before his addition by assembly in the diptych of saints (which is erroneously called "canonization").

To conclude in Dordevi'c's own words, placed in the right context: it is time, indeed, to have more intelligent and sensible "religious analysts" and not just self-proclaimed and self-inflated "petty political" commissars "for religious issues".

+ Bishop Atanasije (Jevti'c)

Three Recent Miracles Of Saint Cyril Vi
"To read about the wonderworker Saint Cyril VI, Patriarch of Constantinople, see "here"."

HEALING OF A MAN WITH CANCER IN 1998

My name is Yiannoula Papadoulis and I am a resident of the village Poimenikon Neas Orestiados. A year ago I had the icon of St. Cyril VI and in my prayer asked the Saint to make me worthy to go to Pythio to worship at his church and grave. This year, the Sunday of Saint Thomas which was his feast day, I went with my sister Athena and my brother-in-law Strati to his church.

There we venerated his icon and the three of us saw a few letters on his forehead. We read them but forgot them immediately. Only the letter "A" we all remember. We could not give any explanation for this. Surprised we took a little oil from the lamp burning in front of the icon to bless our dying father who suffered from cancer. Unfortunately all his blood had deteriorated and doctors from the Hospital Didymoteicho told us that it makes no sense for him sit there, and thus we should take him home to die peacefully.

Immediately after we blessed him he opened his eyes, he asked to eat, and then slept peacefully. In the morning he woke up and felt very good, as if not having undergone any inconvenience. We glorify God and His miraculous saint, Saint Cyril the VI, who is our protector! Every year we will venerate him with faith on the day of his memorial.

THE SAINT IN GERMANY IN 1998

My name is Vasiliki and I live in Germany. I gave birth a year ago to a girl, I baptized her and named her Marina. She was a healthy child, but suddenly when she was eight months she became paralytic, unable to move her hands or feet, and she would have convulsions. I took her to the hospital but the doctors could not find how she suffered from this incurable illness. I did not stop burning the oil lamp of St. Cyril, and at the bedside of my child I had the icon of the Saint and entreated him day and night for my child. After seven months I took the icon of the Saint and put it on her, and immediately this time she began to move her arms and legs. Doctors could not explain it and asked me what Saint this was and what his name is, so I told them the whole story of Saint Cyril and the miracle. I glorify God for the grace of the Saint who made my child well. May the grace of the Saint protect the entire world!

THE SAINT IN BELGIUM (MARCH 18, 1998)

My name is Eleni Karafyllaki and my husband is Michael. Our homeland is on the border of Ebro, the homeland of our great Saint Cyril, in Pythio. But we live now for many years abroad, in Belgium. My husband fell heavily ill and had to have three surgeries. It was very serious and involved the liver, lung and kidney. We went to many doctors here in Belgium and they presented things as very difficult as there was no specific treatment. One day as we returned home after the doctor I started crying with inconsolable despair. Like this I pulled open my drawer and took out my book with the life of the Saint, I hugged and cried with faith: "My Saint, save my husband." At night in my sleep I saw my departed father with St. Cyril (I recognized him from the icon on his book) and he said: "Eleni my child, do not worry, the Saint read over your husband and he does not have anything." The next morning we went to the hospital for test IV, and passing by the radiologist who was looking at the x-rays he told us: "The x-rays are totally clean! This was a great miracle or we did a misdiagnosis!" Great is the grace of the Saint. My family will always invoke him with faith.

Feat STARTED IN THE Deceitby Fiona Oceanstar (fi@whittaker.rice.edu) Western vs. Eastern mystery traditions --> one of the principalthings you yearning to conceptualize, if you're accessible inwitchcraft, is that it's a WESTERN mystery tradition. Thesignificant dichotomy taking part in is outer-vs.-inner. In the Easterntraditions, the expert in general seeks some group of mystical confederationwith the majestic Oneness, which implies a cancellation from thehousehold, group life of whatsoever beings, and a aim on one'sfamily circle processes. In the Western traditions, the expert is veryappreciably a part of the actions and community of humanity. A witchdoes solid back a special sympathetic of their inner world andtheir stroke with the all-permeating Oneness (Goddess), but awitch is as well a supporter of society--a planter, a healer, a parent, awarrior, a novelist, a scientist, an architect, a processor programmer, etc. In becoming a witch, you don't split your spirituallife from the rest of your life--rather, you put into practice the moral principlesof the Deceit in everything you do. You pursuit to take back what you backstudious on an inner level and Ordinary that sympathetic on an pastlevel. This is not to be muddled with the Christian dichotomy ofworks vs. faith. Witches don't back to Accept in anything--theyare appreciably too applied, too practical for such inspiration. Magic And Fortune Telling

By Adam Asar

For thousands of years people have been fascinated, awed and fearful at the unknown and mystical, being heedless of the dangers and harm that they inflict. As Muslims it is imperative to understand these evil-filled practices and to protect ourselves from them.

Magic

Having the power to do supernatural and seemingly impossible things is referred to as 'magic'. It can be categorized as either sorcery, which is magic that uses the power of evil spirits for evil purposes; or as illusionism, which is the skill of performing tricks in which you seem to make things appear, disappear or change, as if by magic.

Ruling

Both sorcery and illusionism are unlawful in Islam. Sorcery can only be performed with the aid of devils whose help is attained when the performer attributes them as partners to Allah in worship. Illusionism does not involve polytheism, but may none-the-less lead one astray. It is a sin because it implies an act of disobedience. Magic is a destructive act, and therefore Islam warns against it. Believers should avoid magic and magicians; take precautions to heed the danger they represent and attempt to expose their false allegations.

The following evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah has asserted this ruling.

Allah says: 'And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew.' [The Qur'an 2:102]

Abu Hurairah, radhiallahu anhu, related that 'The Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, said: 'Avoid seven most dangerous things.'

The Companions asked: 'O Messenger of Allah! What are these things' He, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, answered: 'Making anyone or any thing a partner of Allah; practicing magic; killing a living being whose life has been declared sacred by Allah without justification; practicing usury; misappropriating the property of an orphan; running away from the infidels in a battle; and slandering chaste, innocent, believing women.' (Bukhari and Muslim)

Ordained Punishment

According to Islamic law, the penalty that awaits every sorcerer is death. The Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, said: 'Kill every sorcerer, for this is the punishment ordained by Allah.' Umar ibn al-Khattab sent messages to his viceroys in those countries under Islamic rule ordering them to kill all sorcerers. This was later confirmed by Uthman Ibn Affan, Hafsah Bint Umar, Abdullah Ibn Umar, and Jundub Ibn Abdullah, radhiallahu anhum.

Fact or Fiction

An illusion has an effect on the onlookers that seemingly make things or happen when in reality, they do not. Musa, alayhes salam, said:

'Nay, throw you (first)! Then behold, their ropes and their sticks, by their magic, appeared to him as though they moved fast.' (Qur'an 20: 66).

Spells can have a genuine effect that can manipulate the body; even to the extent that it can cause sexual impotence. It may also make the affected person go insane, as it disturbs the emotional balance. Allah says in the Qur'an:

' And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's leave.' (2: 102)

Breaking a Magic Spell

The best way to break a spell is by reciting assigned verses from the Qur'an and to utter specific invocations specially worded by the Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam. Another allowable method would be to use medicines lawfully prescribed for the particular case under examination. What is unlawful, however is to use magic as a means to break a spell because this is likely to be done by the aid of devils.

Protection From Magic

Holding fast to Allah, seeking refuge with Him and putting trust in Him, can attain protection from magic. Also, we should do what is right in the sight of Allah, and turn away from sin. But more specifically we can recite the following verses and sayings: Whoever recites verse 255 of the Surah of al-Baqarah (No 2) before going to bed, Allah sends him a keeper that protects him against the devils until he wakes up. Recite verses 285 and 286 of the Surah of al-Baqarah.

Say: 'I seek refuge with Allah?s perfect words from the evil of what He has created.' Say the following three times: 'In the name of Allah, Whose mention is a protection against whatsoever harm is on the Earth or in the Heavens. Verily, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.'

Fortune-Telling

Fortune-telling is the belief that some people possess the ability of telling other people what will happen to them in the future by using magical or mystical methods. These rulings also apply to people who claim knowledge of the unseen, such as geomancers, palmists, shell-diviners, etc. A fortune-teller uses devils who eavesdrop in the Heavens; Allah says in the Qur'an: 'Shall I inform you (O people!) Upon whom the devils) descend' They descend on every lying, sinful person. Who lends an ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the Unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars.' (26:221-223) This knowledge of what the angels may have said is then passed to the people who are often prepared to believe what the fortune-teller says. The problem is that what people believe is true, has been embellished or changed, omitting the truth.

Ruling: Fortune-telling is considered 'Shirk Akbar' (the major and serious form of polytheism) for two reasons. First, it implies the acquisition of knowledge of the Unseen, which is unique to Allah, (alone). 'Say: 'None in the Heaven and the Earth knows the Ghaib (unseen) except Allah, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected.' (Qur?an 27: 65). This means that any one who believes that he possesses such knowledge is certainly claiming the acquisition of a Divine attribute that Allah (alone) possesses. Second, it involves using devils and holding fast to them, a ritual that can only be perfected when the performer is in complete submission to that damned species. This is a form of polytheism.

The Danger of Attending Fortune-Telling Assemblies

In recent years, the number of fortune-tellers has dramatically increased, only being outnumbered by those who attend their assemblies and believe what they are told. Some people are fascinated and impressed by observing those who cannot miss the opportunity to make fortunes out of imparting their fabrications. People who attend fortune-telling assemblies are divided into three groups: Those who go to fortune-tellers to ask them about the future without truly believing in their falsehoods and without having the slightest intention of disclosing their falsehood to the public. People in this group are sinful and their prayers are not accepted for forty days.

Those who believe in the prophecies of the fortune-tellers and go to ask them about the future. These people are regarded as disbelievers since they deny the truthfulness of the Qur'an:

'Say: None in the Heavens and the Earth Knows the Ghaib (Unseen) except Allah.' (27: 65)

Those who go to fortune-tellers and only ask them in order to examine the truthfulness of their prophecies; then disclose their deceit to the public. These types of people publicize that fortune-tellers only offer misguidance that can make believers go astray. However, if someone uncertain that he is capable to take on such a task and accomplish it perfectly, he should not attempt it. Such a weighty undertaking could pose a risk to himself, and result in failure that may likely tempt people even further.

Working The Iron Pentacle With Thorn Coyle
Last night I returned from a weekend intensive in New Jersey taught by mystic, musician and teacher T Thorn Coyle. Over the course of two days we worked the iron pentacle- a powerful tool from the Anderson Feri Tradition. Using the word "intensive" is quite an appropriate way to describe the intense transformations that occurred. In the iron pentacle, we learn about calling back the powers of sex, pride, self, power and passion. The circle can be explained in part as the ever encompassing limitlessness of God Herself. I knew I was in for a life changing experience but I had no idea just how much change it would actually involve. I've done workings of the Feri Tradition for years and you might recall my musing on the "pearl" pentacle that I wrote here almost a year ago.

Right from the very first exercise the energy of the whole room seemed to shift in a way that made it seem like we were moving into some kind of glorious alternate dimension, and indeed we did. Never before have I been able to feel the currents of my body circulating in ways that were almost startling. Thorn prepared us well for these experiences and told us to expect and be open be open to profound changes in our bodies (all of them). Time seemed to have sped up as five hour chunks of time just flew by like minutes. Normally after intensive class sessions I don't want to do anything but sleep. However, I still had.enough energy to head into Manhattan with Iris Firemoon for a few hours on the town.

Waking up on Sunday morning, I was roaring and ready to go. We finished up on Sunday with the last two points on the iron pentacle and rounded out our work with ritual and ecstatic devotional dance. I'm usually not much of a dancer but this really got me going. As the beat of the drums ran togther, everyone was alove and the room bubbled over with the tangible breath of our work hovering over us like a storm cloud. It was like being high, the way the gods intended us to be.

Towards the end we were challenged to think of what true gifts we received from the iron pentacle. For me, there were so many that its hard to come out with just one. I suppose if I had to pick one that moved my soul above all the others, it would be power. I feel like my relationship to power shifted into a place of balance and communication. Power was not afraid of me and I was not afraid of it. Further, I learned that my power is my own and that no one has the right but me to manage my life-force but me. I own myself and all my parts. When I'm in a correct relationship with power, I enable others to come into their own as well. There is always enough to go around. Once we establish this, we move into passion that gives us direction for this work. From passion, we return to sex where we reunite with the divine spark of all that was, all that is, and all that ever shall be.

My deepest thanks to the Northern New Jersey Pagan Fellowship for organizing this event, to Iris for sharing in the experience and getting us up there and of course to Thorn for passing on this very valuable teaching. Thorn will be in Ashton, MD in October for a workshop called "Your Divine Work" and so I urge you all to make it a point to mark your calendars and attend if you can.

Sex pride self power passion, blessed be the iron pentacle.

Swallow Hearts
Many famous hoodoo spells utilize the heart of a swallow as a magical ingredient -- typically to use in love spells but occasionally for gambling and other works. The swallow's heart is a very old item of magical power; the oldest reference to it I have seen was in the 17th century by Wecker.

Unfortunately for hoodoo's modern practitioners, even if they're willing to kill a swallow and remove its organs for magical use, it's not actually legal to do so in most places. Therefore replacements must be found. In the past I've offered for sale my own replacement for the swallow's heart in the form of a red wax bead filled with appropriate powders and minerals (but this was a limited time deal -- you'll currently have to make a special request if you want one.) Another simpler replacement I often recommend these days, for charm bags, is a piece of rose quartz, easily found available in most spiritual shops -- including the rose quartz products at Lucky Temple's store.

Graduation Week
As maximum of you gorge noticed, I gorge not posted to the blog for unlike days now. The symposium for not position is so this was the vital week of the Foundation Vicinity at Northern Academy. And, I gorge to say, it was a very lively week.
