HEALING OF A MAN WITH CANCER IN 1998
My name is Yiannoula Papadoulis and I am a resident of the village Poimenikon Neas Orestiados. A year ago I had the icon of St. Cyril VI and in my prayer asked the Saint to make me worthy to go to Pythio to worship at his church and grave. This year, the Sunday of Saint Thomas which was his feast day, I went with my sister Athena and my brother-in-law Strati to his church.
There we venerated his icon and the three of us saw a few letters on his forehead. We read them but forgot them immediately. Only the letter "A" we all remember. We could not give any explanation for this. Surprised we took a little oil from the lamp burning in front of the icon to bless our dying father who suffered from cancer. Unfortunately all his blood had deteriorated and doctors from the Hospital Didymoteicho told us that it makes no sense for him sit there, and thus we should take him home to die peacefully.
Immediately after we blessed him he opened his eyes, he asked to eat, and then slept peacefully. In the morning he woke up and felt very good, as if not having undergone any inconvenience. We glorify God and His miraculous saint, Saint Cyril the VI, who is our protector! Every year we will venerate him with faith on the day of his memorial.

THE SAINT IN GERMANY IN 1998
My name is Vasiliki and I live in Germany. I gave birth a year ago to a girl, I baptized her and named her Marina. She was a healthy child, but suddenly when she was eight months she became paralytic, unable to move her hands or feet, and she would have convulsions. I took her to the hospital but the doctors could not find how she suffered from this incurable illness. I did not stop burning the oil lamp of St. Cyril, and at the bedside of my child I had the icon of the Saint and entreated him day and night for my child. After seven months I took the icon of the Saint and put it on her, and immediately this time she began to move her arms and legs. Doctors could not explain it and asked me what Saint this was and what his name is, so I told them the whole story of Saint Cyril and the miracle. I glorify God for the grace of the Saint who made my child well. May the grace of the Saint protect the entire world!
THE SAINT IN BELGIUM (MARCH 18, 1998)
My name is Eleni Karafyllaki and my husband is Michael. Our homeland is on the border of Ebro, the homeland of our great Saint Cyril, in Pythio. But we live now for many years abroad, in Belgium. My husband fell heavily ill and had to have three surgeries. It was very serious and involved the liver, lung and kidney. We went to many doctors here in Belgium and they presented things as very difficult as there was no specific treatment. One day as we returned home after the doctor I started crying with inconsolable despair. Like this I pulled open my drawer and took out my book with the life of the Saint, I hugged and cried with faith: "My Saint, save my husband." At night in my sleep I saw my departed father with St. Cyril (I recognized him from the icon on his book) and he said: "Eleni my child, do not worry, the Saint read over your husband and he does not have anything." The next morning we went to the hospital for test IV, and passing by the radiologist who was looking at the x-rays he told us: "The x-rays are totally clean! This was a great miracle or we did a misdiagnosis!" Great is the grace of the Saint. My family will always invoke him with faith.

I originally posted this in February of 2011, but it seems like a fun one to revisit, what with the Deluxe Tunnels & Trolls Kickstarter having launched last night.
Troth asked earlier this week if 2nd level Spirit Mastery spell in the 7e Tunnels & Trolls rules had it's roots in the 2nd level Yassa-Massa! spell from earlier editions. So I opened up my copies of earlier editions to take a peek.
These are copied word for word, tense for tense, punctuation for punctuation, capital letter for capital letter, etc. So yes, earlier editions were a bit unclear...
T&T 1e: Yassa-Massa! To be used only on previously subdued monsters / foes. Total strengths I.Q. & Charisma. Will permanently enslave monsters with with ratings lower then the above total.
T&T 2e: Yassa-Massa! To be used only on previously subdued monsters / foes. Total strength, I.Q. & Charisma. Will permanently enslave monsters with with ratings lower then the above total.
T&T 3e (1st UK ed): Yassa-Massa! Previously subdued Monsters or foes are permanently enslaved if their Monster Ratings are lower then the combined Strength, I.Q. and Charisma of the caster. Monster must have surrendered or lost half his Constitution or M.R. for Spell to work.
T&T 4e: Yassa-Massa! To be used only on previously subdued monsters / foes. Total strength, I.Q. & Charisma. Will permanently enslave monsters with with ratings lower then the above total.
T&T 5e: Yassa-Massa To be cast on previously-subdued monsters / foes. Will permanently enslave if victim's ST, IQ and CHR are less then that of the wizard, or if the MR is less (and remains so).
T&T 7.5e: Spirit Mastery This spell enslaves its target to the caster"s will for as long as the total of the caster's INT, WIZ and CHR are greater than the combined total of those three attributes for the target. If the victim has a Monster Rating, it's MR must be less than the caster's total for INT, WIZ and CHR.
So, basically, in 1e the foe had to be subdued first. I'm no expert on the earlier T&T rules, so if there are subdual rules in in T&T 1e I can't find them. It's also poorly written and typo'ed, but it was a work in progress back then.
As for 2e, again with the subdued condition I can't find, but at least the spells power can be figured out now.
UK 1e makes sense, explains the condition the monster / foe must be in for the spell to work. I could use this spell
4e is the same as 2e - same problems.
5e is the same - how the heck do you do subdual damage in Tunnels and Trolls editions 1-5? Hey, found an answer dating back to 2001 from Tori Bergquist- I suspect this houserule was well in use, just never made it to the rules. 5.5e has info on "Pulling your punches", but it isn't what the Yassa-Massa spell needs to fulfill it's requirements.
7.5e changes the name and no longer needs the foe to be subdued, which is good, as I don't think 7e has the rules for it either (I'm too tired to check). Oh, and it replaces STR with WIZ in the spell power. Oh, and it may not be permanent - watch out if your WIZ drops during use.
So there you have it, the evolution of a Tunnels & Trolls spell from 1e to 7.5e.
One of the most mind-boggling sections in Tamara Hartzell's new online book "In the Name of Purpose: Sacrificing Truth at the Altar of Unity" is Chapter 16. It is a must-read for anyone trying to understand Rick Warren's grandiose Global P.E.A.C.E. Plan:
TOGETHER AS ONE WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD
On June 3, 2005, Rick Warren announced his support of "The ONE Campaign: To Make Poverty History" in an e-mail titled, "Will You Join Me?" In it, he acknowledged that this Campaign has been "endorsed by a wide coalition of folks from all across the faith and political spectrum" (emphasis added). He also explained how he was joining with "U.S. Faith Leaders" in sending a letter to President Bush to lobby him to fight global poverty at the G8 Summit this past July. He and the other Faith Leaders included the following statements in their letter to Bush:
"Americans are uniting as ONE across political and religious divides to support action to overcome the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty."
"Together as ONE, we can Make Poverty History this July."1
Rick Warren also encouraged his readers to visit the website of The ONE Campaign, which has boldly declared:
"Together as ONE we can change the world."2
In support of The ONE Campaign, on July 2, 2005 Rick Warren attended the Live 8 Concert in Philadelphia, of which he was reportedly made "official pastor."3 In covering this event, "Forbes" reported:
"Prior to the concert, Warren joined One organizers in a rally on the steps behind the Philadelphia Art Museum to encourage young volunteers.
"'Because you are involved in the One Campaign, you are interested in change,' he said. 'If you are serious about change, you need to do two things. First, focus on vision, not need; call out the greatness in people, not their guilt. Secondly, "don't tell it like it is", but rather like it could be, should be, and may be.
"'We don't want people to die of poverty or diseases for which we already have cures, because God loves them.' Warren continued. I believe with all my heart we can do this - and I believe you are the generation to do it.' Pastor Warren was joined on the platform by Pastor Herb Lusk, with whom he is partnering on the Purpose Driven 'Stand for Africa' campaign.
"'I was in Memphis, Tennessee in 1968 when the voice of Martin Luther King was silenced - it was the darkest day of my life.' Pastor Lusk said. 'But I look at Bono, Rick Warren, the One movement, and I realize that voice is still alive.'
"'I don't know all the statistics -- I'm just a country preacher - but I do know THERE IS ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM, ONE GOD, AND ONE FATHER WHO IS IN US AND ABOVE US ALL - AND THERE IS THE ONE CAMPAIGN.'" [!] (Emphasis added)4
THE U.N.S GOALS: UNITING THE WORLD AS ONE
The ONE Campaign consists of a growing number of partners that either directly or indirectly support strengthening the United Nations and fulfilling its goals. In fact, the following is the Campaign's answer to the question, "How does ONE link to international agreements to fight poverty?":
"ONE links directly to the international effort to achieve the Millennium Development Goals". 1% more of the US federal budget would help save millions of lives and be a major commitment towards achieving the internationally agreed upon United Nations Millennium Development Goals." (Emphasis added)5
In their letter to President Bush, Rick Warren and the U.S. Faith Leaders, in accordance with this purpose of The ONE Campaign, asked him to give "just ONE percent more of the US budget."6 They did so seemingly without any regard for the far-reaching ramifications of strengthening the United Nations and its goals.
The U.N.'s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are uniting the world and its religions (faiths) in transcendent common purpose. These goals are the international development goals in the U.N.'s Millennium Declaration, a Resolution adopted by the General Assembly on September 8, 2000. This Resolution declares the United Nations and its Charter to be "indispensable foundations of a more peaceful, prosperous and just world." This Resolution also explicitly upholds Agenda 21, the Kyoto Protocol, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, among other destructive U.N. agendas.7 This Resolution has been adopted by all United Nations Member States,8 and now it is also being supported by today's Christianity and other religions via its MDGs.
The framework is all coming together for the U.N.'s ultimate goal of uniting the world as ONE under its control. Its comprehensive Resolution, which the world has embraced, also contains the following statements (emphasis added):
"We are determined to establish a just and lasting peace all over the world "in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter"."
"As the most universal and most representative organization in the world, "the United Nations must play the central role"."
"We will spare no effort to make the United Nations a more effective instrument for pursuing all of these priorities..."
"We solemnly reaffirm, on this historic occasion, that "the United Nations is the indispensable common house of the entire human family, through which we will seek to realize our universal aspirations for peace, cooperation and development". We therefore pledge our unstinting support for these common objectives and our determination to achieve them."9
On the U.N.'s website directly underneath the heading, "Charter of the United Nations," the belief is upheld that unity can change the world:
"We the Peoples of the United Nations... United for a Better World." (Ellipsis dots in the original)10
Only on the very surface do the U.N.'s goals appear noble and compassionate. These eight MDGs have much in common with the giants of Rick Warren's Global PEACE Plan, such as fighting poverty, hunger, disease, and lack of education.11 Yet underlying the seemingly compassionate surface is a massive networking of purposes, principles, and control interweaving throughout every aspect of society that seeks to draw "all" into the new world order.
This new world order will culminate in Satan's global government-a Beast that will fulfill Satan's Dream, Vision, and Plan in its devouring of the whole world (e.g., see Revelation 13 and Daniel 7:7-8, 21, 23-25). It will succeed by using the Angel of light's message and works of counterfeit "light" and "peace" to deceive, assimilate, and unite those who refuse to love God's absolute truth. Those who refuse to compromise the truth and cooperate with its works of darkness will be purged from the planet.
At this time, the U.N. is the most prominent organization behind Satan's Plan for a global government. Skeptics have pointed out that the U.N. has no teeth-i.e., no power to enforce its laws. Satan himself is going to be the teeth in his global government through his coming Antichrist, regarding whom Scripture says "the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority" (Revelation 13:2).
Incidentally, the U.N. has even been referred to as "the body of Christ" by the world-renowned, U.N.-adored Robert Muller, who personifies the (New Age) New Spirituality beliefs and goals of the U.N.12 When fully implemented, the U.N.'s agendas will hold dire consequences for true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Regarding the comprehensiveness of its Resolution that has already been adopted by the world, even U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan has admitted:
"The Adoption of the Millennium Development Goals, drawn from the United Nations Millennium Declaration, was A SEMINAL EVENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED NATIONS. It constituted an unprecedented promise by world leaders TO ADDRESS, AS A SINGLE PACKAGE, PEACE, SECURITY, DEVELOPMENT, HUMAN RIGHTS AND FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS." (Emphasis added)13
Nevertheless, a growing number of Christian organizations have blindly joined the world in backing the U.N. and its goals, such as directly or through The ONE Campaign. Likewise, Rick Warren's P.E.A.C.E. Plan "coordinated its early efforts with United Nations and other relief agencies," according to "The Philadelphia Inquirer".14 Support for the U.N. is global.

Jeremiah 18:
"The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying, arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words..."
I used to think this passage of scripture was to do with making something beautiful out of nothing but a piece of dirt - until I went to pottery classes some years ago and tried the potters wheel.
I picked up a piece of clay and put it onto the wheel but as I started the wheel and tried to shape it, the clay went everywhere. Then the teacher came to help.
First of all she said I had to place the clay onto the wheel, not forcefully but enough to help it stick and so we lightly wet the wheel and placed the clay.
Next I had to centre the clay. Now believe it or not that was the hardest part but while I was trying to centre the clay I got a real spiritual sense of that is what we had to do with the Christian life.
First and foremost we must centre our life on Christ. He must come before everything else - our family, friends, things we watch on TV. Everything we do must be for his glory. If what you're watching on TV doesn't glorify God if you're somewhere you think you can't take Jesus with you, well you shouldn't be there.
I'll be honest with you, there are times when I'm asked out to someone's leaving party from work and they are going to the pub. I really don't want to go - why? because I can't take Jesus with me. Oh I know Jesus went into the homes of sinners and sat with those who were prostitutes, drinkers - but he always told it like it was. He told them of their need to repent, in other words he told them of their need of Christ and well, I'm not sure I could do that in a pub full of unbelievers, and not when they are not sober, so I'd rather not go; you see I want my life to be centred on Christ and I'll speak to them at work.
When you try to centre clay it really is one of the hardest things to do. You need a great deal of persuasion to get that lump of clay to do what you want. You need gentle but firm pressure to move the clay and again I found that was me. Jesus needed to gently but firmly persuade me to be in the place where I could make him centre of my life.
I'd sometimes say something that wasn't right (call someone names) and you know God's words would tell me 'do everything in love'. If you can't say anything nice about a person, then don't say anything at all. I'm still learning that at almost 60 and the Lord is still gently but firmly persuading me to be in the centre of his will - to do what he want me to and not what I want and 1 Peter 1:15 reminds me to be 'holy in all manner of conversation'...
So when I start to gossip about someone or start to say something I shouldn't then the Holy Spirit gives me a nudge and tells me not to do it.
Once the clay is centred you can start to shape it. Now, I've seen master potters at work and it looks so easy to take hold of the clay and to draw it up and shape it into a vase or a jug - but it isn't easy - once you start to bring the clay up it seems to take on a life of its own.
If you go too fast the clay comes apart in your hands..
If you put too much water on it starts to flop all over the place and you end up with a soggy mess
And well, it's a bit like us really. If we try to go too fast as new Christians things can overtake us. We need to grow at the right speed, reading our bibles daily and praying continuously (1 Thess 5:17).
We start off the Christian life as babes, taking in spiritual milk 'as new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that ye may grow thereby' (1Pet 2:1-3). But then we grow into taking the meat of the word. We grow gradually and this helps us not to fall.
When the clay flops or falls over the potter can pick it up, put it together and start all over again and if we fall we can pick ourselves up and allow Jesus to put us together again so he can continue to shape us.
If we allow Jesus to be the centre of our life, if we are obedient and walk in the centre of his will, he will continue to mould and shape us to be the person he wants us to be.
The portion of scripture in Jeremiah was a warning to the people of Judah that once the potter has made his pot there is a point that it dries hard and if it is broken the potter can't reshape it - it's past the stage of being moulded. Jeremiah was to break the vessel the potter had made to show that the Lord would break the people and the city.
Maybe we can think on this too - there may come a time when that will happen to those who heard God saying repent, turn away from your sin, what you know to be wrong and follow me. Those who hear this message and do nothing about it might just be like the pot that was broken, they remain unmouldable, unmoveable, they can't be put back together and reshaped - they refused to listen to the word and to do anything to change their life and to follow Jesus.
I'm reminded of how God chose David, a man after his own heart to be anointed King and God also wants us to be a people after his own heart but if you don't know the Lord as your Saviour, don't refuse to listen. Repent and turn to him now and let him mould and shape your life until you grow into the likeness of Christ.
And Christians make sure Christ IS the centre of your life and you will be in the centre of his will.

Look. We all face the same challenges in life. We really do. We have to pay our bills, and tend to our families, and deal with our jobs. And those of us who are "aware" of things going on around us, are.... well... perhaps very very blessed indeed.
Imagine how sad it's going to be for those "asleep at the wheel" when the whole world comes falling down upon them. Imagine how dismayed and horrified people will become when "all Hell" breaks loose. Imagine how sad it must be for someone who lived a relatively "good life" back in the 40's or 50's but didn't make the "cut" for Heaven. Many people, even today, are clueless what is going on.
How utterly blessed we are to be truly expecting our King's arrival at any moment. Sure it's hard. Knowing what we know comes with a very heavy burden. But it also gives us an enormous advantage at "making the flight out". Get it?
Would you rather stay here and watch people dying all around you and being imprisoned in FEMA Camps, or would you rather be with THE KING, Jesus Christ? I guess I think exactly like Paul the apostle. To live is Christ, to Die is GAIN. There is simply NOTHING this life can offer me that would cause me to pass on an opportunity to return to my "first estate". Why did Jesus say His Father builds us many mansions, and THEN follows it up with saying "I wouldn't tell you this if it wasn't true"?

I would say that ever since around 1970's I've been hearing of "end of the world" talk.
I got married in 1980 and my mother- in- law would constantly be talking of Jesus' return and bring out certain scriptures... "space of half an hour", we can't know the day or the hour, but we can know the month, speculative talk. I always had lots of respect for her; she is an intelligent woman and prays and reads her scriptures and is a student of history.
In 1975, my family had some friends that happened to be Jehovah's Witnesses and they thought the end of things would be in 1975 and they didn't allow their son to finish his last year of high school. I found out later that the only job he could find was as a garbage truck driver or more politically correct, a sanitation worker... :)

She was convinced the Great Tribulation was starting at any time and was trained there was no "rapture" so she wanted to be prepared. My father busted my butt, we filled a cold cellar with tons of food, raised chickens, ducks and it was quite an adventure. "
