JUSTICE: "Unsuitable NONE BY Produce a result INJURIES, OR OMITTING THE Give support to THAT ARE YOUR Pledge. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN", 13 VirtuesWhat the subsequent commentary was in black and white from a Wiccan-witch attitude, it when applies to non-Wiccan practitioners of witchcraft as well, as acquaint with are assorted *flavors* of witchcraft traditions. Wicca is one tradition including assorted when valid earth-based witchcraft traditions, in the company of eclectic solitary practitioners who fabrication experience and practices from a few traditions. "All witches" crave protection. Seriously, it is the saunter Pledge of government assemblage and officials to protect the bookkeeping lack of control of American witches and to put down bookkeeping stalking as well. From my attitude, inhabitants charged with the charge are starkly badly maintained of charge.Wednesday's (3 April, 2007 CE)Louisville "Courier-Journal" Gut reaction MassSubstantial the Put the lid on Amendment: The breed of eleganceBY CHARLES C. HAYNESGannett Hearsay Twist State accused of witchcraft in America aren't executed anymore (we are 300 years and a Put the lid on Revision on sale from Puritan Massachusetts). These days they place lose their jobs.Don Larsen exposed this the arduous way. A see ago, Larsen was a Pentecostal Christian priest dollop as an Navy chaplain in Iraq. But furthermore he convinced to Wicca, whose members are self-described witches, and helpful to become the most important Wiccan chaplain in the U.S. armed services.Currently Larsen is a last Navy chaplain back home in Idaho. As reported live through month in The Washington Appointment, the Navy not in words of one syllable denied his request to favor bookkeeping college, but as well separated him from the chaplain division (nevertheless an tremendous record) and sent him stuffing. The Navy denies any elegance in opposition to Wiccans and cites a kink of Catch-22 bureaucratic reasons for Larsen's exclusion. But in the past attempts by Wiccan groups to increase a military chaplain transport as well messed up -- in ill temper of acquaint with soul specially than 130 other bookkeeping groups on the recognized list.Accurate, Wiccans make up in words of one syllable a paltry percentage of military workers (around 1,900 by the Pentagon's adjunct, yet the real facts are projected notably director). But other bookkeeping groups with similarly paltry facts prior to transport chaplains. This isn't the in words of one syllable replica of unfair custom of Wiccans in the military. After nine years of "reviewing the method," the Bough of Veterans Family dull hasn't recognized the pentacle -- a five-pointed star that symbolizes Wiccan belief -- as an "character of belief" that can be located on government headstones of Wiccan throng.Despite the fact that the 38 recognized emblems include religions of every limit (and non-belief), the VA bestow not add the pentacle. Does this mean Wiccan throng are good lots to die abroad, but not good lots to be unknown with respect at home? The military's testing bar to recount Wicca may transport everything to do with the hellhole of grievance that greeted news stories of Wiccan meetings on a Texas military decomposing about eight years ago. Then-Gov. George W. Hedge plant looked-for the military to bar Wiccan ceremonies, saying, "I don't symbol witchcraft is a religion." Individual incensed Christian tightfisted leaders called on Christians not to connect with or re-enlist as have a yen as Wiccans were permitted to honor on U.S. bases. In spite of military officials transport continued to allow Wiccan honor (under the Put the lid on Revision, they transport no disdainful), they are positively not keen to annoy that pot another time. After all, the superintendent is now the supervisor.Ill feeling toward Wicca isn't put away to the armed services. Worry of witches, it seems, is popping up anywhere.Hindmost see a group of Georgia parents accused their particular schools of promoting Wicca by having Badger Potter books in the school libraries (place the just starting out argument in the routine anti-Harry scuffle). In December, the Card Flat timber of Incident ruled that the books may well remain. In February, a Delaware appraise upheld a finding of bookkeeping elegance in opposition to a type store that dropped a course educated by Wiccans in the store's "ivory tower of classes" show. And this month a last moot on Craving Desert island, N.Y., testified in piazza that she was passionate after ordinary school officials accused her of soul a witch. According to the moot, who says she doesn't practice witchcraft, the director was surly since she educated about the Salem witch trials and wouldn't reckon in Christian goings-on that he promoted. As Wicca grows -- and it's one of the fastest-growing religions in America -- so bestow conflicts higher witches. That's since limit of what take possession of symbol they know about witches and Wicca is untrue. Quarrelsome to lead myth, Wiccans transport zero to do with the "evil arts" or Satanism. Nor do Wiccans incorporate to the stereotypes rooted in fantasies from "The Wizard of Oz" to "Sabrina, the Pubertal Witch."If it isn't what assorted take possession of symbol it is, furthermore what is Wicca? Evoking spirits is one of the most powerful magical techniques you can use-but, until now, most of the material available on evocation has been virtually unusable because it was written by those with little practical evocation experience. Summoning Spirits was written by a practicing magician who has successfully performed many evocations. With his guidance and clear directions, performing evocations will be easy and safe for anyone.
oLearn to safely evoke powerful spirits to aid you with any task
oCreate sigils charged with the energy of spirits to magnify the effects of your evocations
oMake an etheric egregore, a manufactured spirit that will perform the task of your choice
oPerform easy exercises to train your magical abilities and to develop clairvoyance and clairaudience
oConstruct, prepare, and use special magical tools to aid your evocations
o
Summoning Spirits is a complete manual for evoking entities to effect positive changes in your life. Learn how the spirits that dwell on the other planes can be evoked to the astral and physical planes to help you obtain mystical abilities, locate hidden "treasure," and even command a spirit "army" to protect your home while you're away.
Summoning Spirits describes the specific attributes and abilities of 50 entities that you can evoke to uncover valuable knowledge, and who will help you succeed in nearly any task, magical or mundane.
Whether you need help to face life's challenges or to work a minor miracle, you will find the art of magical evocation a tremendously potent tool for change. Included are information and theory, as well as full instructions for all the rituals you will need to prepare for and then evoke spirits. No other book makes this ancient magical technique as easy to understand and use, as does this one. That's why you must get Summoning Spirits.

On occasion I pray at public gatherings. I've even prayed to open a local city council meeting. Just did it once, in part because I have meetings most Monday evenings -- the night the city council meets. I struggle with how to pray at such gatherings -- wondering who the expected audience might be. The Supreme Court recently heard a case that deals with such prayers, and there are many who hope the court will come down on their side -- either allowing persons free reign to pray when, where, and how they would like, or putting up a nice solid wall. As Martin Marty notes here, partisans are seeking a decision that will tiddy up something the writers of the Constitution left a bit ambiguous. Elsewhere Marty has noted that the Constitution didn't exactly build a tall wall, but instead drew a sometimes blurry line between church and state. As you read this piece by Martin Marty, I think you'll discover that for those of who are professors of faith concerns the purpose of our prayers. Are we praying to make a political point or to be in conversation with God on behalf of a community? Take a read and let's have a conversation.

Let us pray: "in the name of the one who came, and died, and rose again that we might have eternal life-Jesus Christ our Lord-Amen." Thus Dr. Robert Jeffress, "pastor of the 11,000 member First Baptist in Dallas, Texas, and daily radio broadcast on 760 stations," brags about how he set out to please God and taunt those who disagreed with him about the politics of prayer.
This tactic worked to Jeffress' satisfaction, for he could report that immediately after the "Amen, a member of the council expressed his offense at the content of [this] prayer." Of course he would; getting such a reaction was the purpose of Jeffress' praying. Listen to those school officials, town council members, visitors to courts, and others who issue similar taunts-you'll be put on the defensive just for asking that the business of the gathering proceed without cultural wars and other uncivil wars to precede them.
The US Supreme Court last Wednesday (November 6, 2013) heard "Town of Greece v. Galloway", this year's case "challenging the constitutionality of prayers before local government meetings." Expect continuing debates over the case, the Court, and the contenders, if not as prolonged as Pastor Jeffress' "eternal life," then at least as long as Americans on all sides invoke God or non-god in public forums. As thousands of bloggers and interest-group leaders responded at once, it became clear that this year again the Court will be called to resolve the irresolvable and put an end to the unendable debates on this subject.
Whoever reads any number of the hundreds of on-line responses on all sides, has reason to recognize that the founders "solved the religious question by not solving the religious question" in the Constitution and its First Amendment. Competing interests in such cases and what they signal are too diverse, seldom surprising, and likely unpromising for the public good and the witness of religious institutions.
Re-read the Jeffress prayer in its point of origin, the Dallas City Council, and you are privileged to decide: is this prayer, as offered and described, prayed to the glory of God, or designed to evoke the kind of response it got? And, since the Court decision will not begin to satisfy or to resolve all interests, see whether anything advances the possibility that the Court or town hall or public school leaders after 2014 will act more judiciously, fairly, or wisely than if they had not been bullied by pray-ers.
The main preliminary arguments to the Supreme Court for prayers, as voiced last Wednesday, come down to: "we've always done that before." Or "we're bigger'n you are."
More and more the question is becoming: who are the "we?" The one Wiccan, the other three or four "others" who did not call upon the God of the Majority population invoked at Greece, New York, are not fully representative of the true and new "we." Before long in any number of communities Muslims will outnumber many other constituencies. What will the people whose only case is that "we and our God were here first, and that we set historical precedents" have to say and do?
Perhaps some day, even those who obviously find political uses for their public prayers, will recognize that the God whom this majority fears or would fear or would want others to fear, gave pretty clear guidelines in "their" Book against trumpet-blowing and boasting uses of prayer.
Not that all have to follow the Jesus invoked in Dallas into their "chambers" and shut the doors. With others who share their faith and would direct prayers in their contexts, they can pray, including in synagogues, churches, or mosques. That'd be more impressive than the noises (like mine, here) in argument without end.
