Mentalism Is It All In Your Mind
By definition mentalism is the art of a person being able to read another person's mind or the ability for a person to be able to make things happen using only their mind. These people are known as mentalists and they claim to be able to know other people's thoughts. They also claim to be able to place thoughts in the minds of others, and they claim they can make influence objects using only their thoughts.

There are some mentalists who seem to be able to do some very impressive things on stage. A person in the audience watching the mentalist perform has no choice but to be impressed by the things a mentalist can do. There is no logical explanation a normal person's mind can come up with.

Let's take a look at some of the common tricks a mentalist might perform.

The first trick some mentalists like to perform is bending spoons. This is a trick made famous by the master mentalist Uri Geller. During this trick, the mentalist holds a spoon and with the power of the mind, they bend the spoon. It's an amazing trick to see.

Another set of tricks all mentalists like to do is reading people's minds. One of the more common mentalism tricks that are performed involves a phone book. The mentalist will ask a person to open a phone book and write down a phone number. Then the mentalist will write down the number that the person found in the book. Sometimes the mentalist will already have an envelope with the correct number sealed inside of it.

There are many mentalism tricks that can and are performed. Almost all of them are amazing to the casual observer. And unlike most basic magic tricks, there is no common sense mechanism in the brain that kicks in and says the trick isn't real. For example, when a women gets sawed in half, your mind knows that was a trick and wasn't real. However, when a person bends a spoon or comes up with a number that only you knew about, it's tough to deny that was real.

So the question about mentalism is: Is it all in your mind? The answer is yes, of course it is. But that doesn't mean the trick isn't real. In fact, it's hard to disprove that the mentalist isn't reading a mind, or bending a spoon, or doing one of the many other great feats that mentalists do.

Mentalism is fascinating and seems to be on the rise. While it has been around for centuries in one form or another, only recently has mentalism really begun become popular with the main population. in Your Mind?
