Opening The Doors Of Welcome Sermon For Pentecost 8A
ROMANS 9:1-5 Did you see the article in Tuesday's Free Press about RIPPLING HOPE? Although neither the Michigan Region nor Central Woodward was mentioned, we can read ourselves into it. That's because Carl Zerweck told the reporter that a couple of pastors from the area invited Rippling Hope to come to Detroit. That happened four years ago, and those pastors were Eugene James and me. The reason why Rippling Hope made the paper and the Channel 7 news was because it was joining up with ARISE DETROIT'S NEIGHBORHOOD DAY. Yesterday, I spent much of the day in Detroit, along with Diana Payton, David McCormick, and Kevin Murnaghan - an Irish co-worker of David's who is on temporary assignment from the company headquarters in Germany. We joined the Rippling Hope contingent doing some painting, gutter cleaning, yard cleaning, and caulking of windows. David, Kevin, and I worked on Mr. Zachary's porch. It needed quite a bit of work, and while we didn't get it finished, Mr. Zachary was excited about what his porch was going to look like in the not too distant future. He even told us that his neighbors were thinking that maybe they should do some painting also. The block club president told us that because of the work of Rippling Hope, people in the neighborhood had begun to believe that they could make a difference. Yes, with groups like Arise Detroit and Rippling Hope, there are signs that Detroit is on the rise again. We didn't have a large group yesterday, but we were one of more than 200 groups doing everything from yard clean up to offering children's programs. This morning's reading from Romans 9 may look like a lament. Paul is grieving because his own people aren't hearing his message. Although they have all the gifts and blessings of God, they're not receiving his message of the Messiah, who is over all. This lament comes right after Paul closes Romans 8 with a crescendoing declaration of thanksgiving for the love of God.Nothing, neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-38).Paul might be grieving at that moment, but he's also confident that in the end God's love will prevail. The story of Detroit is a good illustration of Paul's point. Many believe that Detroit's best days are behind it. The future - to them - looks bleak. But there are others who believe that Detroit will rise from the ashes. There are a growing number of people who can see something new taking place. It's not just in downtown or midtown or along the river front, though much is happening there. The visionaries in our midst can see signs of new life out in the neighborhoods as well. That's where Rippling Hope is working. Of course, if you drive around the city, you will still see blight. You'll see abandoned homes and lots filled with garbage. But you will also see homes with newly painted porches and cleaned up lots. Across the city neighborhood groups and their partners are standing tall and taking back the land. While the bankruptcy and the water shut-offs get the news - especially outside the area - we can help tell a different story. It's a story that is expanding every year. It's a story in which we have a part. In Romans 9-11 Paul focuses his attention on God's desire to open the door of welcome to the Gentiles. This has always been God's plan. Through Isaac, Abraham's descendants would be named, and these descendants would be the bearers of God's blessings to the nations. There was resistance to this vision, among Paul's people, but he could see the bigger picture. Even as Israel would be saved, so would the nations. It was Paul's belief that God is seeking to heal the breach between Jew and Gentile. As Paul writes in the Galatian letter, the walls of separation between Jew and Gentile, male and female, slave and free have been torn down (Galatians 3:28). We humans can get impatient. When things don't seem to be going well, we lose hope. But, Paul has a word for us. In verse 6 he writes that "it is not as though the word of God had failed." When things look dark; when things look hopeless; stand on the promises of God. The reason Paul grieved for his people, is that they had - in his view - forgotten their calling. They had let their institutions become an idol. The institution had become an end rather than a means. The same thing can happen to the church. We can make the church the end, rather than the means of God's mission. While this is true, we're also living at a time when people are questioning institutions. It's not the first time in history, and it won't be the last. Because there is a sense of discontent about the value of our institutions - from the church to government - it might be a good time to think about the nature and purpose of the church. It's a good time to ask whether our congregation is living out its calling. Down through history, whenever faith communities get stuck and begin to focus their attention on preserving the institution, the Holy Spirit ignites a new movement that gets the ball rolling again. My friend Diana Butler Bass wrote about this in her most recent book - "Christianity After Religion. " In that book she speaks of a new movement of the Spirit that is bursting at the seams of the church and pushing the church out in new directions. What is happening today has happened before. Think about St. Francis and the Franciscans, which challenged the status quo. And when it got overly institutionalized, new movements emerged from within it. The Reformation was another movement that pushed boundaries. When those communities got overly institutionalized new movements - like John Wesley and the Methodists or our own Stone-Campbell Movement - emerged. We can resist the Spirit's work, but can't box in the Holy Spirit. So maybe it's better to cooperate than resist! After all, in the end, God's love will win. I believe that what we're doing in Detroit is an expression of God's work in the world. It's an expression of bridge-building - something the Spirit of God is good at - connecting this congregation to its roots in the city. It's not our name. It's not the furniture in the room. It's the work we're doing now in partnership with groups like Rippling Hope and MCC that connects us to the work that began almost a century ago in Detroit. The nature of our work today, however, is different from the previous century. The context is different. We're living in a Post Christian World - to borrow from the title of a new book by Christian Piatt. When we look out into the future, we don't know where it will take us. We don't know what the world will look like a decade or a century from now. But this new world offers us new opportunities to walk with the Spirit and live out the message of God's kingdom. As Christian Piatt, who is a Disciple serving in ministry with his wife Amy, the pastor of First Christian Church of Portland, puts it: Our business is to seek with an open heart and eager mind, every day, what it is that we have been created to be. We will screw it up, more than once, to be sure. We will hurt one another in the process. We will have our hearts broken, our fingers stepped on, and at times it will seem as if we're on the outside of it all. We will feel like we're stumbling around in an empty room, surrounded by four unforgiving walls. ["Post Christian: What's Left? Can We Fix It? Do We Care? " p. 205] And yet, as Christian reminds us, "every so often, when the fog lifts and our path is clearly laid out before us, we take a step, maybe two, and ask, with every tentative move 'What's next?'" And that is the way it is for us - when the fog clears, we can begin to see a pathway ahead. When we see this path, we continue our journey. We do this, not because we've built a great institution. We do this because God has adopted us as God's children. Therefore, to us has been given all the gifts and the covenants, which we share in partnership with, the children of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Leah and Rachel. Having received this calling, let us stand on the promises of God and join with the Spirit of God in opening doors of welcome to all those who would come in and share this life with us. Readings For March 28Th
Reading 1: From Liber Arcanorum (CCXXXI), by Saint Aleister Crowley

0. A, the heart of IAO, dwelleth in ecstasy in the secret place of the

thunders. Between Asar and Asi he abideth in joy.

1. The lightnings increased and the Lord Tahuti stood forth. The Voice came from the Silence. Then the One ran and returned.

2. Now hath Nuit veiled herself, that she may open the gate of her sister.

3. The Virgin of God is enthroned upon an oyster-shell; she is like a pearl, and seeketh Seventy to her Four. In her heart is Hadit the invisible glory.

4. Now riseth Ra-Hoor-Khuit, and dominion is established in the Star of the Flame.

5. Also is the Star of the Flame exalted, bringing benediction to the universe.

6. Here then beneath the winged Eros is youth, delighting in the one and the other.

7. He is Asar between Asi and Nepthi; he cometh forth from the veil. He rideth upon the chariot of eternity; the white and the black are harnessed to his car. Therefore he reflecteth the Fool, and the sevenfold veil is reveiled.

8. Also came forth mother Earth with her lion, even Sekhet, the lady of Asi.

9. Also the Priest veiled himself, lest his glory be profaned, lest his word be lost in the multitude.

10. Now then the Father of all issued as a mighty wheel; the Sphinx, and the dog-headed god, and Typhon, were bound on his circumference.

11. Also the lady Maat with her feather and her sword abode to judge the righteous.

For Fate was already established.

12. Then the holy one appeared in the great water of the North; as a golden dawn did he appear, bringing benediction to the fallen universe.

13. Also Asar was hidden in Amennti; and the Lords of Time swept over him with the sickle of death.

14. And a mighty angel appeared as a woman, pouring vials of woe upon the flames, lighting the pure stream with her brand of cursing. And the iniquity was very great.

15. Then the Lord Khem arose, He who is holy among the highest, and set up his crowned staff for to redeem the universe.

16. He smote the towers of wailing; he brake them in pieces in the fire of his anger, so that he alone did escape from the ruin ther.

17. Transformed, the holy virgin appeared as a fluidic fire, making her beauty into a thunderbolt.

18. By her spells she invoked the Scarab, the Lord Kheph-Ra, so that the waters were cloven and the illusion of the towers was destroyed.

19. Then the sun did appear unclouded, and the mouth of Asi was on the mouth of Asar.

20. Then also the Pyramid was builded so that the Initiation might be complete.

21. And in the heart of the Sphinx danced the Lord Adonai, in His garlands of roses and pearls making glad the concourse of things; yea, making glad the concourse of things.

Reading 2: Liber Aleph (CXI), Chapters -, by Saint Aleister Crowley

de morte.

Thou hast made Question of me concerning Death, and this is my Opinion, of which I say not: this is the Truth. First in the Temple called Man is the God, his Soul, or Star, individual and eternal, but also inherent in the Body of Our Lady Nuith. Now this Soul, as an Officer in the High Mass of the Cosmos, taketh on the Vesture of his Office, that is, inhabiteth a Tabernacle of Illusion, a Body and Mind. And this Tabernacle is Subject to the Law of Change, for it is complex, and diffuse reacting to every Stimulus or Impression. If then the mind be attached constantly to the Body, Death hath no Power to decompose it wholly, but a decaying Shell of the dead Man, his Mind holding together for a little his Body of Light, haunteth the Earth, seeking a new Tabernacle (in its Error that feareth Change) in some other Body. These Shells are broken away utterly from the Star that did enlighten them, and they are Vampires, obsessing them that adventure themselves into the Astral World without Magical Protection, or invoke them, as do the Spiritists. For by Death is Man released only from the Gross Body, at the first, and is complete otherwise upon the Astral Plane, as he was in his Life. But this Wholeness suffereth Stress, and its Girders are loosened, the weaker first and after that the stronger.

de adeptis r.c. escatologia.

Consider now in this Light what shall come to the Adept, to him that hath aspired constantly and firmly to his Star, attuning the Mind unto the Musick of its Will. In him, if his Mind be knit perfectly together is itself, and conjoined with the Star, is so strong a Confection that it breaketh away easily not only from the Gross Body, but the fine. It is this Fine Body which bindeth it to the Astral, as did the Gross to the Material World so then it accomplisheth willingly the Sacrament of a second Death and leaveth the Body of Light. But the Mind, cleaveth closely, by Right of its Harmony, and Might of its Love, to its Star, resisteth the Ministers of Disruption, for a Season, according to its Strength. Now, if this Star be of those that are bound by the Great Oath, incarnating without Remission because of Delight in the Cosmic Sacrament, it seeketh a new Vehicle in the appointed Way, and indwelleth the Foetus of a Child, and quickeneth it. And if at this Time the mind of its Former Tabernacle yet cling to it, then is there Continuity Character, and it may be Memory between the two Vehicles. This is, briefly and without Elaboration, the Way of Asar in Amenti, according to mine Opinion, of which I say not: This is the Truth.

de nuptiis summis.

Now then to this Doctrine, o my Son, add thou that which thou hast learned in The Book of the Law, that Death is the Dissolution in the Kiss of Our Lady Nuith. This is a true Consonance as of Bass with Treble for here is the Impulse that setteth us to Magick, the Pain of the Conscious Mind. Having then Wit to find the Cause of this Pain in the Sense of Separation, and its Cessation by the Union of Love, it is the Summit of our Holy Art to present the whole Being of our Star to Our Lady in the Nuptial of our Bodily Death. We are then to make our whole Engine the true and real Appurtenance of our Force, without Leak, or Friction, or any other Waste or Hindrance to its Action. Thou knowest well how an Horse, or even a Machine propelled by a Man's feet, becometh as it were as Extension of the Rider, though his Skill and Custom. Thus let thy Star have profit of thy Vehicle, assimilating it, and sustaining it, so that it be healed of its Separation, and this even in Life, but most especially in Death. Also thou oughtest to increase thy Vehicle in Mass by true Growth in Balance, that thou be a Bridegroom comely and wellfavoured, a Man of might, and a Warrior worthy of the Bed of so divine a Dissolution.

What Is A Magic Spell
For example is a magic spell, indeed? We get questions all the time about magic spells, what they are, how to produce them, how to cast them, and so forth. In fact, it seems to be a subjugated of such interest that we incorporate approved to comment an undivided series of bulletin articles about it.This series of articles life-force really dig happening the direct of creating and casting spells, and may possibly well be named, "The Anatomy of a Carry"!"For example IS A Inscrutability SPELL: THE Definition"But leading... the definition. For example is a magic spell? Appearing in is our pomp word on the matter:"A spell is any psychic or magical get through that combines a total of elements (air, fire, water and earth) and/or agreed factors that back a nauseous kick out by way of a times of time. A spell may possibly equally be meticulous as a formalized point that is carried out by way of time until draw to a close. We use spells like we are weak to orderly affect a arrange or federation, bonus like dealings with passion factors or barriers which dictate a lot of flatten to clobber."So communicate you incorporate it. This gives you each one a administrator and an informal definition of a magical spell--a obscure definition and a layman's adjoining of "a formalized point." Developing, right?"THE ANATOMY OF A Inscrutability Carry"Being the definition of a magic spell may undeniably be simple--or at the very negligible, straightforward--the actual plant of a spell can get a diminutive top-quality passion. The ingredients that go happening a spell can take a bit top-quality deliberations and time and nuisance than the normal Joe may visualize. Once a simple Sun Candle spell can be done with notably less nuisance than what we are about to define in the back vicinity, the spells that are aimed to give directions top-quality passion topics can dictate notably top-quality from the practitioner. This is rob as spells are the same what extremely in life: you get out of them what you put happening them. If we were to break down the anatomy of a spell, we may perhaps diverge it happening these parts: * Define what is accept * Decide the type of spell to cast (for holder, discrete candle spell, combination candle spell, Tarot spell, or spells using prototype apparatus) * Conversion advantageous consequences happening Directors and Limiters (formalized statements of what the spell life-force and life-force not do) * Do Tarot readings on Directors and Limiters to finish whether they and the in type of spell life-force broad the advantageous consequences * If the Tarot readings are not suitable, check over either Directors and Limiters or spell type or each one, later triviality, sponge down, and price until the readings are suitable * Life the spell's essential ingredients, such as verses, candle carvings, Tarot changes (for Tarot spells), and in time to cast spell * Run Tarot readings on the stuck-up ingredients and check over until readings are suitable * Prepare the spell ingredients (i.e., cut the candle or comment out ladder to Tarot layout changes) * Skin tone spell at the rob time * Run log Tarot readings at rob intervals to finish contend * Production spell adjustments if essential, up to and in addition to spell take-downs (for spells gone off center) * Sit back, displease, and consumption the consequences of your spell!Whew! That does good enough the same a bit of work, doesn't it? On the other hand, if you stability that a spell can broad nearly what you can impressive, later the above-specified level of nuisance may well be implication it!In well along articles we life-force take each level in this anatomy of a magic spell and dig in. We life-force define, weigh up, present, and all in all exclude you the feel of each level so that you incorporate an paradigm of what goes happening a concrete spell that is not truly effective, but equally follows the in force laws governing magical practice. Once Upon A Time Season 4 Episode 8 And 9 Smash The Mirror
Flashback time - to a long time ago in Arendelle to when Ingrid buried the hat-box-thing (that steals magic, hereby called the Fantasia Hat). She then goes to the Enchanted Forest to tell the Sorcerer's Apprentice (who doesn't lie her because she embraced the dark side of the Force) that she has his boss's hat. He tries to threaten her with a sword that doesn't really impress her much and she presents what she wants - happiness, a third magical sister to join herself and Elsa.

To the present and Storybrook where Emma is still shooting off magical sparks in her car. Henry tracks her down (somehow) telling her how running from people never fixes anything so she zaps him with magic (accidentally. Honest :P) Henry tries to reassure her but Emma panics and tells him he has to leave.

To be fair, if I were Emma I'd have trouble not zapping my blood relatives as well.

Ingrid drops in to do her recruitment pitch but Emma drives off.

The Charmings, Elsa and Killian gather together for angst and whining, as they do and Henry joins them to explain how pear shaped everything has become. Elsa decides to exposition which throws us into flashback world where Ingrid told Elsa a somewhat edited version of events on how their sisters will always hate them for being magic and special and occasionally freezing people to death. Anna is in prison and totally evil.

Elsa goes to the prison, gets rid of the guards and makes it clear that she doesn't believe aunty Ingrid and is definitely team Anna. They hatch a plan to put Ingrid in the urn. They go searching for the urn ("helped" by Kristoff and Anna) and find the urn (and Hans's frozen body).

They work their way through the castle, hiding from the guards (for some reason) while Elsa angsts about her parents trying to take away her magic while Anna tells her how her magic makes her special and she loves her sister with magic.

Sadly for them, Ingrid outsmarts Anna (which, admittedly, is not exactly a difficult feat) and chains Anna up. They then discuss old legends including the creation of the magic mirror that makes whole kingdoms hate each other. She uses a piece of the hate mirror on Anna. Angry Anna goes to confront Elsa with the Urn but Elsa rightly realises Anna has been spelled. Ingrid tells her to freeze Anna - and Elsa refuses. Anna puts Elsa in the urn

Ingrid isn't happy with this turn of events and plays to the idea she's being persecuted because Anna and Kristoff look at her like she's a monster (hah must be all the monstrousness). Ingrid freezes the whole castle - Anna and Kristoff included. This may have killed them - or so Rumplestiltskin thinks when he appears. He wants the hat Anna took from him and to make sure he gets it, he vanishes the urn full of Elsa Ingrid has. Oh Rumplestiltskin, the source of all the evil everywhere!

THE HERETIC'S CORNER
(c)1986, Buck Jump
Greetings, my Pagan friends; may your Gods be well
disposed to you. May your harvest be bounteous, may your winter
meat be fat and easily gotten, and may the autumn sun warm you
for the cold to come.

Now is the time of the grand payoff when what we have
worked for throughout the long summer is at last laid in the
granary. A little while to enjoy the sweet earth, the time
between harvest and wood chopping. Our Mother is especially
sweet just now - past bearing but not yet the wise old
grandmother, our Earth is still warm with passion, a lover of
pleasure without consequence. Autumn is the year's reward. May
yours be rich and filled with ecstasy.

The black birds flock for the long trip south; the wild
geese return from the arctic barrens. The coyotes sing their
wild song of life and love. A night wind rustles the drying
leaves under the Hunter's moon, and I hear the horn of the wild
hunt rushing over the land. The veil between the worlds grows
thin and the past comes back into the present.
There is a sweet nostalgia in the past. Old loves still
warm the cooling blood; old triumphs still make the heart beat
faster; old mistakes still bring a blush to the cheek. "Old
mistakes
", as the English sailor said in the Japanese bath
house, "Aye, there's the rub."

I hope the wild hunt in passing your house, starts only
such game as you will want to see. I fear that old Herne has
started
a hare in my woods that I neither knew was there nor wanted to
see.
My Pagan friends, forgive me... I goofed. Mea Culpa,
and I should have known better. At least I give thanks that I
can acknowledge my goof before it goes farther, and thanks too
that I haven't entirely dislocated my arm patting myself on the
back.
When last I wrote in these pages, I suggested that we
all work some magic to put an end to senseless violence. I
thought I was being reasonable, I thought my idea would perhaps
inspire an outpouring of spiritual power that might well improve
our common environment. It seemed like such a good idea. I was
proud of myself. Well, pride goeth before a forced landing.
I have a friend with whom I've debated many an issue of
moral philosophy over many a cup of coffee. He shall remain
nameless here, but I can identify him as a Talmudic scholar who
has taken a post graduate course in human nature in the "second-
hand
" business. He is a master schooled in both theory and
practice. As soon as the last issue of the R.M.P.J. came out, I
rushed down to the coffee shop to gloat and play `one-up' with
my friend. I went in like a falcon and got shot down like a
goose. He read my prose carefully, and re-read parts of it. He
is a scholar and a gentleman. The former kept him from
agreeing, the latter kept him from being nasty about it. Every
philosopher should have such a friend, someone to keep our feet
on the ground.

"I agree with your position", he told me, "I think you
have a noble idea, but your first premise is false. There is no
senseless violence -- all violence seems sensible to the one who
does it. Now you, I, and every well intentioned reasonably
intelligent person must agree the examples you cite are
senseless. To us they are senseless, but to the people who did
them they were sensible."

Then he proceeded to show how, from the warped viewpoint
of these violent people their actions were, to them, both
sensible and justi-fied. He convinced me that I was making a
moral and value judgement rather than a positive statement of
natural fact. In order to achieve what I wanted, I now realize,
would require some drastic reshaping of a lot of minds, an
overhaul of millions of psyches. I didn't realize what I was
asking. Well, when I dream, I dream big....

If all the moral philosophers, gurus, religious leaders,
prophets and shamans who have tried and failed to re-shape
humanity en masse were gathered together in a single place, it
would take a Texas wheat field to hold them. In order to stop
senseless violence it will be necessary to get everyone to agree
on what is senseless. I know what is right, you know what is
right, but that wierdo next door has some other idea. Before we
can feel safe around him we have to get him to agree with us.
I'm not too optimistic about a mass mind change even by magic.

It is worth a try, but recall - in the past, some real eternity
class magicians have tried and failed. Some of those old boys
could control the weather, transmute metals, turn juice or water
in to wine instantly and levitate, but they couldn't change the
mind set of mankind. It's easier to move a mountain than a
mind. To use force either real or implied, either physical or
social, is only to replay the inquisition, and we've already had
too many remakes and sequels to that. Education seems to be the
only method that works, and that's as slow as evolution.

Right and Justice are not to be had in job lots, even
with magic. Every case must be approached individually one by
one.
To change minds in mass lots can be done magically; however
people who are so changed are not really changed, but only
suppressed -- what you get are a bunch of zombies. So far as I
know this sort of thing is only done by magicians on the dark
side. Adolph Hitler and Jim Jones are two examples that come
readily to mind. For all I know both of the named examples may
well have started with the highest motives. When you start
superimposing your mind on the mind of another or others, things
have a way of coming unglued. History is full of examples of
groups that acted with one mind for a while and then unravelled
when the guru leader either died or ran out of gas. No my
friends, it won't work, even with the noblest of motives it just
won't work.

I knew all this from long ago, but I was misled as to
what was going on. I thought the senseless violence I saw
around me was from some outside source. A mad spirit, a virus
or some sort of "dis-harmonic vibration". If that were the case
my idea would have been a good one. On the off chance that
something like that is now afoot in our world a general
intention for reason and against violence can't hurt, and may
well do some constructive good. I'm all for anyone who tries to
clean up our environment, seen or unseen. Considering the sort
of good folk who read the R.M.P.J. I'm not too worried that
anyone who read my last little effort will be misled by it. I
fear that at worst, those of you who followed my suggestion may
have wasted both time and effort - I hope that at best, you may
have done some good by promoting reason and discouraging
confusion. Cleaning the house won't stop a fire, but it will
lessen the chances of spontaneous combustion, and make a fire
easier to fight if it does break out. As I see it, my mistake
was in supposing we all have more or less the same values and in
externalizing he source of senseless violence.

Enough of apology and explanation. Breast-beating and
patting your back are both good exercises.....in futility.
One good bray from the donkey, one good hoot from the owl, and
then back to work. We are still at risk from some angry fool
armed and dangerous. What can be done? What should be done?
I can think of several things to do. First, learn to
perceive the violent ones. Some of us can see auras, some can
pick up on "bad vibes", some can "smell" trouble -- however,
whichever, my advice would be to use it. An antelope don't long
survive in the veldt without looking, listening, smelling and
generally keeping on the alert. Second, surround yourself with
protection. Some walk in a sphere of protection, some are
guided by some unseen force, I rely on my guardian spirit,
guardian angel or however you call her. In any case, whatever
protection you have, use it. Whatever ceremonies, prayers,
incantations or deep meditations you use, don't neglect them.
That is about it. We're back where we were when we wore fur
bikinis and hunted with stone-tipped spears, but haven't we
always been there? Safety is, in this life, I fear only an
illusion.
One thing more we can do, and should do -- we can teach.
Part of the debt we all owe to life is to clean the place. Non
only should we pick up the trash, but we should also clean up
the vicious bull-shit wherever we find it. Like it or not we
are all teachers. Whatever we do, whatever we say is part
of the lesson we teach.
Before all the Gods I wish I had some magic formula to
give you that would clean up the world both seen and unseen, but
I don't. The life of mankind is a hard road to travel, that is
why the ultimate designed a hard bunch to travel it. My
blessings on you one and all. May you find enlightenment. You
are smart, may you find wisdom. Let this subject now be closed
between us. If you have any ideas on this subject pass them on
to our longsuffering editors.
Now it may be that I can resume my clown suit and once
more arm myself with my gadfly stinger and get back to the
heretic business and leave metaphysics to those better equipped
to deal with it. A silversmith shoeing a horse rarely does a
good job of it.
In the spring the wild plums were a'blooming. White
blossoms on the bough, lace for the bride. In the long summer
the little green plums grew and changed to a lighter green
color. When the first frost was still up in the high country the
plums grew sweet and turned a lovely purple-pink shade. Then at
the time of the autumnal equinox, they were picked and crushed.
Now the new wine works behind the air seals in the fermenter.
The promise of spring blossoms is redeemed in the good strong
wine of winter. What we learn in any one place we can use in
another place. The wild plums are a part of life; from them we
can learn about other parts of life. When the wine falls clear,
a drink all around, a toast to life. May we all go our separate
ways bound for a common goal. May the flowers bloom where we
have passed. Go in peace, well disposed to your fellows. With
these words I do now part from thee" Jump.......from

Liberal Mystics And Charismatics
This was brought up in other thread, but I remain so curious about topic that I bring it up in new thread.

Stereotypical liberal christian mixes classic christianity with scientific world view, but it seems to be that there are christians who reject fundamentalist biblicism and world view, but still hold beliefs of active supernatural side of christian religion.

So, if there is anyone who identiefs as charismatic/mystic + liberal christian, want to share some light on your world view?

I personally feel that kind of theoretical mix is very open for becoming syncretism in far larger sense than intended. Any thoughts on this?

To make clear what my motives are: I'm not intending to critisize it, rather I'm very interested of how its theoretically explained because charismatic christianity without fundamentalism - version sounds for me like ideal version of christianity.
