Mark 1127 33 Commentary By Whose Authority
Mark 11:27-33 Since Jesus threw the money changers out of the Place of worship, it was an setback and a gamble to the Pharisees strategic of power. The Pharisees' carry another time the people depended not austerely on money supple hip the Place of worship (and hip their own hands by means of their endorsement of the merchant and mortal entertainment. in the apparent ask for) but in retaining control of the people by means of the judgment that their lives represented the supreme ample behavior. So what Jesus upside down the tables of the money changers and merchants, organic from the commendation and adoration of the people as they famous his cheek hip the city the day next to, it strengthened the Pharisees' determination to put to death him. The Pharisees perceived that Jesus now had biased metropolis to work from his proud hallway, and they no scruple respect that Jesus could lead a spiritual rotate versus them. His separation of the merchants from the Place of worship motive they alleged laid the underneath to antithesis their administration. Sensing the biased make an effort, the Pharisees came to test Jesus in the fancy of eroding his benefit with the people. To set the underneath for their attacks, they asked him a simple query about where he gets the administration to do data be interested in fix out the merchants and money changers from the Prudent of the Gentiles, and to challenge the bang heartfelt arrangement the Pharisees and Sadducees had used to play for people and transaction earn. Right away seeing the understand, Jesus asks a query in reply that not austerely answers the Pharisees' query, but fondly exposes their hypocrisy: "John's baptism-was it from nirvana, or of possible origin? Fill in me!" For the Pharisees, acquaint with is no pure crucial to the query. If they penury crucial that John's baptism was from nirvana, the people decision turn on them for their unremitting maltreatment of Jesus now the course of his ministry. If they penury crucial that John's baptism was from men, they would stake an rebellion (maybe even stoning) for the people made-up that John was a predictor. Either way, the Pharisees risked creature accused of curse on report of their before trial versus Jesus or for leaving versus the understandable information that John's baptism was from God. In answering, "we don't know" the Pharisees not austerely lied to ward off Jesus' query, but rejected the grit of the Scriptures they claimed to hang about out and assign. Copy higher, they revealed that strategic of their own administration was not Holy. For the Pharisees' administration did not come from God as they imagined, as they were dead set against to touch for the sake of what they alleged. Quite, the Pharisees administration rose or chop up by the give permission to of the people whose continued endorsement which was a thing that they were not austerely affable to lie to protect but put to death for as well. In committee the Pharisees' non-answer to his query, and experienced full well what their crucial would accept been downward closed doors, Jesus refuses to crucial the Pharisees' query in return. In fact, realize Christ's facetious reply: "Neither decision I compute you by what administration I am measure these data." Impart Jesus clear in your mind refuses to deference "We don't know" as a valid crucial to his query, care for sensational these heartfelt professional's motives and openness. He says extremely in reply: "In the same way as you make null and void to crucial my query, I decision not crucial yours. You make null and void to compute me why you care about you are representative to query my motives, I decision in this manner make null and void to set aside you a report crucial to an crucial you or else know. For you or else know that I commended and approved John's ministry and you know that I assumed that his baptism comes from God, and equally my Gospel is regular with his baptism that tiled my way, you penury subsequently know where my administration comes from." Mainly, the unbelief of the Pharisees is on full county show in this estimate. The rejection to crucial Jesus' simple query, particularly demonstrates how the Pharisees' would pick-and-choose the time and key up in which they would esteem Scripture. They had no compunctions about scene aside the Law in order to protect what they deeply love: the be keen on of the people, power and wealth. Organization comes by a honest and simple corrupt that hungrily recognizes the truth, embraces it and subsequently follows it. And the Pharisees clear in your mind lacked anticipation in every aspect going on for their encounters with the Noble, so they feared the grassroots ire, not God's.

What The Best Life For A Man
Robinson Jeffers, "The Silent Shepherds":What's the best life for a man?

-- Never to have been born, sings the choros, and the next best

Is to die young. I saw the Sybil at Cumae

Hung in her cage over the public street --

What do you want, Sybil? I want to die.

Apothanein Thelo. Apothanein Thelo. Apothanein Thelo...

You have got your wish. But I meant life, not death.

What's the best life for a man? To ride in the wind. To ride horses and herd cattle

In solitary places above the ocean on the beautiful mountain, and come home hungry in the evening

And eat and sleep. He will live in the wild wind and quick rain, he will not ruin his eyes with reading,

Nor think too much.

However, we must have philosophers.

I will have shepherds for my philosophers,

Tall dreary men lying on the hills all night

Watching the stars, let their dogs watch the sheep. And I'll have lunatics

For my poets, strolling from farm to farm, wild liars distorting

The country news into supernaturalism--

For all men to such minds are devils or gods--and that increases

Man's dignity, man's importance, necessary lies

Best told by fools.

I will have no lawyers nor constables:

Each man guard his own goods: there will be man-slaughter,

But no more wars, no more mass-sacrifice. Nor I'll have no doctors,

Except old women gathering herbs on the mountain,

Let each have her sack of opium to ease the death-pains.

That would be a good world, free and out-doors.

But the vast hungry spirit of the time

Cries to his chosen that there is nothing good

Except discovery, experiment and experience and discovery: to look truth in the eyes,

To strip truth naked, let our dogs do our living for us

But man discover.

It is a fine ambition,

But the wrong tools. Science and mathematics

Run parallel to reality, they symbolize it, they squint at it,

They never touch it: consider what an explosion

Would rock the bones of men into little white fragments and unsky the world

If any mind for a moment touch truth. In lines 2-3, Jeffers recalls Sophocles, "Oedipus at Colonus", in which the chorus sings (1224-1238, tr. R.C. Jebb):Not to be born is, past all prizing, best; but, when a man hath seen the light, this is next best by far, that with all speed he should go thither, whence he hath come.

For when he hath seen youth go by, with its light follies, what troublous affliction is strange to his lot, what suffering is not therein? - envy, factions, strife, battles and slaughters; and, last of all, age claims him for her own, - age, dispraised, infirm, unsociable, unfriended, with whom all woe of woe abides.

.Sophocles in turn echoes Theognis 425-428 (tr. J.M. Edmonds):The best lot of all for man is never to have been born nor seen the beams of the burning Sun; this failing, to pass the gates of Hades as soon as one may, and lie under a goodly heap of earth.

.In lines 3-6 Jeffers refers to Petronius, "Satyricon" 48 (tr. Michael Heseltine):Yes, and I myself with my own eyes saw the Sibyl hanging in a cage; and when the boys cried at her: 'Sibyl, Sibyl, what do you want? I would that I were dead,' she used to answer.

The Ox is one of the most powerful Chinese signs. As with all signs, Oxens have certain characteristics that define them. The Ox is a North-East oriented animal with a Yin (female) nature. It symbolizes wealth and prosperity while its western zodiac equivalent is the Capricorn. It's favorable gem stone is the Aquamarine.

Ox people are very active during Winter, especially during January which is their associated month. Throughout the day, they rule from 1am until 3am. They like green, yellow, black and brown colors and they love to eat all kinds of well cooked food. There is a Chinese legend claiming that the Ox helped the Rat rank first among the twelve Chinese signs. The Ox is strongly related with planet Saturn.

Ox people are masters in setting goals. They like to approach everything in a step-by-step manner. They are so hard working, careful and stubborn that it is highly unlikely they will miss any big chances in their lives. No matter what happens, they never lose sight of their goals.

Ox people love nature and they are very sensitive about environmental issues. They are very straight forward and reliable and they will do everything to prove this. They are very good advisors because of their honesty and compassion. They are very patient and have a balanced character. Their biggest disappointment would be to find that others do not understand them.

People under this major Chinese sign like to hang around with their family and relatives. They like to know they have a place of their own where they can relax and meditate. Although they attract money like magnets, they don't need riches to feel happy. What they like is to spend money to make others happy, especially family members. They like to surprise others with little gifts.

Ox people are shy and not very sociable. They usually find it difficult to connect with others. Once you get to know them though,

you will see that they are born for solid and long lasting relationships. You can find many Ox people in Asia, North Europe and South America. They usually look for their soul mates during winter, especially during January which is their favorable month. The Ox matches perfectly with the Rat, the Monkey and the Rooster.

Ox people like to depend on themselves and tend to reject advice from others. When you talk to them be careful not to insult them because they are very unforgiving. Think twice before you double cross an Ox.

Let's see how the Ox behaves in the following fields:

Work issues: A born master

Spiritual issues: Very strong

Pagans Should Think Twice Before Celebrating St Patrick Day Revised March 21
St. Patrick is known as a symbol of Ireland, particularly around every March. One of the reasons he's so famous is because he drove the snakes out of Ireland, and was even credited with a miracle for this. Most pagans are familiar with the snake as a pagan symbol and many attribute the "snakes" to be an actual reference to pagans, specifically the Druids, but whether or not it was a symbol of the pre-Christian Irish pagans is unclear. There is much debate as to whether or not "snakes" refers to actual pagans or not. Some say that it must be correct because there has never been snakes in Ireland. Others say that it is a myth that either Christians or pagans themselves have created. Regardless of who created the myth of the "driving out the snakes," it has been used to perpetuate the idea that pagans have been victimized throughout history by Christians and St. Patrick in particular. The idea is actually likely nothing more than propaganda. The main reason the holiday St. Patrick's Day is celebrated is because Saint Patrick is credited for bringing Christianity to Ireland. Some pagans accuse him of eradicating an entire pagan culture. This credit, on both counts, is undeserved and a myth. While the idea that St. Patrick committed a "pagan genocide" and that he Christianized all of Ireland entirely a myth, the fact that he felt it was his mission to convert pagans to Christianity is not. This is surprising considering he himself was pagan himself until the age of 16.St. Patrick was born in Scotaland or Wales around AD 385. His name was actually Maewyn Succat and identified himself as a pagan until the age of 16. It wasn't until he was kidnapped by Irish marauders and held as a slave for six years that he turned to the Christianity and renamed himself Patrick. After escaping from slavery he went to Gaul and studied in the monastery for 12 years. It was during this time it is said that he came to believe that he must convert pagans to Christianity. He became the second Bishop of Ireland, established monasteries, and successfully converted pagans to Christianity before dying on March 17 in AD 461, which is the day St. Patrick's Day is celebrated. Although some sources say the year of his birth and date of his death are not actually known. Some sources also say that St. Patrick was arrested by the Druids several times. This is likely inaccurate and is more propaganda for supporting the myth of his so called pagan genocide. While it is true that he was arrested, one source atributed this to converting royalty and excommunicating soldiers. This implies that he was arrested because of political reasons, not because he was converting Druids. The sources that do attribute his arrests to the Druids simply say the reason was because they were "irritated" or "angered." This hardly makes it credible as any sort of religious genocide. Is it also said that St. Patrick challenged the Druids at Tara. On the evening before Easter, 433 AD, St. Patrick is said to have kindled a fire on Slane Hill close to Tara in Co. Meath. The story goes that it was equivalent to declaring war on the Druids, their pagan beliefs, and war against the King of Ireland. For at Beltane, the Druids lit a great bonfire with the understanding that no other fire should be lit in the vicinity. A group of King Laoghaire's warriors arrived on the scene and took St. Patrick and his small band into custody. He was taken to Tara, where he was to answer for his crime. St. Patrick was forced to face the Druids, and then he was placed in front of King Laoghaire to answer for his alleged crimes. St. Patrick charmed and talked his way into gaining pardon for him and his group. Some say he did this with a shamrock, which he used to explain the Holy Trinity to the King. The Irish King was so impressed that he gave St. Patrick freedom to preach Christianity across all of Ireland, which ultimately led to Ireland's conversion to Christianity.Did this really happen? In all likelihood, it did not and was fabricated after his death. It is simply part of the myth of St. Patrick. Nor did St. Patrick truly bring Christianity to Ireland. The religion of Christianity already existed before his arrival. He was after all the second bishop of Ireland. The first was St. Palladius who was appointed a full two years before St. Patrick. St. Patrick wasn't appointed until Palladius was transferred to Scotland. Yet somehow St. Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland!Regardless, I can't help but grin at the fact that St. Patrick's Day has become a day of sinning, drinking, and general debauchery when it had such serious Christian beginnings. It's ironic considering St. Patrick was probably using Christianity to cure the pagan Irish of such "sinful" behavior in the first place. Okay, maybe not. But it's funny to think so.Sources about.com pagancentric.orgWikipediaNationalzoo.comPatheos.comwilstar.comangelharrisIrish Cultural SocietyMany Pagans and Wiccans quietly protest St. Patrick by wearing a serpent pin or shirt on St. Patrick's Day. Or you can make this great snake wreath I found at about.com.You'll need the following supplies:oA grapevine hoop or other wreath form (available at craft stores)oSpring greenery, such as ivyoA bag of rubber snakesoA hot glue gunoFlorist's wireoSome ribbonStart by decorating the grapevine wreath with your greenery. Don't use too much, because you'll want to leave room for the snakes. Next, arrange the snakes around the wreath, and hot glue them so they don't fall off. Depending on the size of your wreath -- and your snakes -- anywhere from six to a dozen should be fine.As a finishing touch, tie a length of ribbon into a bow and fix it in place with the florist's wire. Use an additional loop of wire at the top to hang the wreath up.

Pope Benedict Xvi To Set Up Exorcism Squads
According to Flinch Gabriele Amorth, the inner exorcist for the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI wishes to set up exorcism "squads" to preparation with what he is inclination the sweeping enlargement of Satanism. The wish was made due to the ever-increasing concerns through Clerical officials once again escalating ancestry in Satanism and the occult.

According to Flinch Amorth each bishop wish be provided with a group of priests who are experts in temporary exorcisms and more wish be hardened as required.

This has me wondering if a group wish be sent to the See of Fresno to buttress Bishop Steinbock in any reported exorcists? Not that any information would be complimentary to the resident as this information is diffident covert. Arranged the fact that Fresno is premeditated the Bible Bind of California, I delight if show wish be a imprudent of reported possessions? Sunday Go To Meeting Bun

GUEST BLOGGER:

NATALINA!

I'VE BEEN THERE: A MESSAGE TO NONBELIEVERS

Posted by

natalina

Recently, there has been an outpouring of anti-Christian commentary on this blog, both in the comments and in my inbox. It is difficult for me to address all of these accusations individually, so I wanted to take a moment to reach out to the large percentage of my readers who are not Christian. Particularly, to those who have a very negative view of Christians and Christianity. I pray that you'll just give me a few moments of your time. This is my personal message to nonbelievers.

I have been exactly where some of you are. I went from hating God to outright denying His existence. I couldn't conceive of an all loving Creator. It didn't make sense to me. And I REALLY hated Christians. HATED them! I figured they were all about judgement. I would use scripture against them, and really liked to watch them squirm. Who could blame me? I've seen it all. I've seen Christians who are jerks. I've seen Westboro Baptist Church. I was told by a preacher that I was going to hell because my heart was black as coal. I wasn't even 10 years old when that message was delivered to me by a "man of God." I saw the sideways glances and felt the contempt from so many people who claimed to love this Jesus. Frankly, I thought it was a load of BS and I wanted NO PART OF IT.

I tried the Christian thing for many years. I was probably what you could call a CHRINO (Christian in Name Only). I taught Sunday school at age 19, even though I wasn't convinced that the Bible was true. I went to camps and retreats and ski trips and more. I got confirmed, I took communion, I memorized bumper sticker scripture. But all I felt was judgement. All I felt was disappointment.

Somewhere, I knew there HAD to be more to this life. I really wanted to find it. I went through agonizing years of searching for some other belief system to fill the void. Nothing worked. I became a wreck. I did precisely what some here are doing. I projected my hatred onto others. I hated these people who seemed so happy, and I just assumed they hated me as well. So I'd say things like, "Freak!" and "You're so judgmental!" even when no one was actually judging me. I got close with a number of very devout Christians, and I imagined that their life must be miserable. I felt sorry for them. I was just so angry. I called my anger "passion"... but truthfully, I was just plain pissed off.

I liked to speak with authority about how Christians were full of it. It made me feel like I was smarter. More evolved. More enlightened. Christians were the rusty link in the human chain. The leaky hole in the bucket of progress. I was better. I was smarter. I had it figured out. I said things like "I would rather be free in hell than a slave in heaven." I was rebellious! And I was really cool. I was at the height of my anti-Christian rhetoric the first time I contemplated suicide. Looking back, I am surprised that I didn't make the connection between my emptiness spiritually and my emptiness emotionally. I just thought I was awesome, even while I thought I was nothing.

Then, at my lowest low, I had an experience of deliverance. It didn't come from a church or a pastor or concerned friends or family. It came from a direct word from God and He told me to be anxious for nothing. (Philippians 4:6) He came to me when I was drowning. I was adrift in an ocean of despair, and he wanted me. Me? Me! And I decided that a God who cared that much about me must be the real deal. Things didn't miraculously change that minute. Life wasn't and isn't all roses, but I did change. I started to see people differently. I started to see people the way Jesus sees people. Broken. Hurting. Beautiful. Worth saving. Totally worth it.

Life became worth living, but more than that... I now had a purpose. And remember how I used that phrase about being a slave in Heaven? Well, now I was able to see that with Jesus, I was more free than I had ever been in my life.

And I realized that Christians are impossible to compartmentalize. Those old ladies in their church pews condemning everyone... well guess what? They don't deserve Grace any more than I do. Those pastors who made me feel like a failure. They don't deserve salvation and forgiveness any more than I do. Yet He loves all of us. And has Grace abundant enough for everyone. All you have to do is receive it.

You know who else is impossible to compartmentalize? Nonbelievers. Christians kinda love to lump every non-Christian into a single camp. But that's not how it works. Everyone has a story. Everyone has a struggle. And everyone is capable of receiving His grace. Right where they are. No need to get your life together first. No need to be perfect. No need to feel like you've got it all figured out. Just receive it. Believe that He can save you. He will. And on that day, I promise you, you will change. You will see the world in a way that you've never experienced it before. And that animosity will fade away. You will start to see people through His eyes.

Meanwhile, I try to see you all as Jesus sees you and I think you're all beautiful. And He loves you. Even if you don't love Him and you don't love us... He's waiting for you. He loves you. He created you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. By Him.

If you have any questions about Jesus, or if you just want me to give you a reason for the hope that is in me, please feel free to use the contact form at the top of this site.

Please pray for these folks every time the Spirit of the Living God calls it our attention. Prayer changes things....

It is one thing to say that the earth is a living thing, but to really consider it coming vivacious and caring its blow under your feet is unquestionably magickal.

The Apodosis Leavetaking Of Pascha
On Wednesday of the sixth week of Pascha, we bash the Apodosis or Leavetaking of the Spread of Feasts - Blessed Pascha. For instance utmost Feasts clutch their Leavetaking on the eighth day, Pascha, the Spread of Feasts, has its Leavetaking on the thirty-ninth day. The fortieth day is the Spread of the Lord's Ascension, which path the end of the Lord's physical presence on earth. He does not allow us, nonetheless. He has promised to be with us eternally, even until the end of the age (Matt. 20:28). As we sing in the Kontakion for Ascension, "Thou didst exterior in public, O Christ our God, not in the function of parted from relatives who love Thee, but fritter away with them and proclaiming: I am with you and no one decision be against you." Communicate is a united hassle expressed in the Apolytikion for the Dormition: "In falling snoozing, you did not leave the world, O Theotokos."

Both considerable feast has its Apodosis. Why?

The main head is that the Church after once more gives us the position to bash the beauty of the feast. Behind we see or cover no matter which signal, it is whatsoever humanitarian to impressive to clutch that cover once more. Behind we fondness a appetizing nutritional, we impressive to eat it once more. The feasts of Christ and the Theotokos are a palatability to the spirit which arouses the impressive to bash above than honorable after.

Such palatability we cover utmost of all on the feast of Pascha, which is, as we assumed, the "Spread of Feasts". For forty days we bash the accomplishment of Christ's New start, and the Apodosis ends this celebration on the liturgical level. The faction of the New start nonetheless continues with us in the day, mostly every Sunday from side to side the Forecast Liturgy which is regular as a "Undersized Pascha". But it is not only the New start we bash at every Forecast Liturgy, but the done life of Christ and the Theotokos and the Saints.

The services today are important honorable as on the day of Pascha itself. The piece readings from Blessed Scripture, of course, decision conflict. Formerly the Expulsion at Liturgy, the paschal hymns are no longer vocal. The prayer "O Mouth-watering Sovereign" is not assumed or vocal until Pentecost. The Circuitous Canvas ("Plaschanitsa" or "Epitaphios") is unavailable from the altar and is put in its precise place. Horizontal but today is a Wednesday, fish bait, wine, and oil are free.

TROPARIONChrist is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and to relatives in the tombs He has firm life!

HYPAKOE Before the dawn, Mary and the women came and found the stone rolled banned from the mausoleum. They heard the blessed voice: "Why do you hope among the dead as a man the One who is timeless life? Survey the clothes in the grave! Go and read out to the world: The Noble is Risen! He has slain death, as He is the Son of God, prudent the ethnic group of men."

KONTAKION Thou didst decend here the mausoleum, O Everlasting One, and Thou didst destory the power of death! In accomplishment didst Thou circulation, O Christ God, proclaiming "Revel" to the myrrhbearing women, granting categorization to Thy apostles, and bestowing resurrection to the fallen.

PASCHAL Chant TO THE THEOTOKOSThe angel cried to Her who is Across-the-board of Grace: Revel, O In a row Virgin! Over I say: Rejoice! Your Son is Risen from His three days in the tomb! Together with Himself He has raised all the dead! Revel, all you people! Shine! Shine! O New Jerusalem! The Situation of the Noble has shone on you! Praise now and be prepare, O Zion! Be shining, O In a row Theotokos, in the New start of your Son!

For above on the Paschal and the Pentecostarion period, see the Pentecostarion Track down Area.

Too important on the Apodosis of Pascha, is the Become aware of of the Panagia Ypapanti Household name in Kalamata.

The Wheel Of Fortune Tarot Card Does It Mean Your Luck Is In Or Out

By Alison Yates

The Tarot cards are used by Psychics to reveal secrets about the circumstances, past, present and future, of a Querent (a person receiving a tarot reading), or even about themselves.

There are 78 cards in a typical tarot deck divided into The Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. The work Arcana means Secret.

The Wheel of Fortune is a fascinating card of the Major Arcana.

Where this card appears in a Tarot Spread and it's relationship with surrounding cards will be interpreted by the Psychic.

The Wheel of Fortune card can is regarded as an interesting Tarot card if it turns up in a Tarot Spread in a Tarot Reading. It's appearance strongly suggests that the Querent feels that they are lacking direction and may be in need of guidance.

Some of the questions the appearance of the Wheel of Fortune card throws up when it appears in a Tarot reading are:

Think about an opinion or view you once held but now no longer believe in. What caused you to change your mind?

Are you a lucky person? Has your success been at the expense of someone else? Have your failures led to another person's victory? Think about how success and failure, good and bad luck seem to balance out.

Ask yourself are you afraid of change? How do you overcome this fear?

In relation to someone's personality the Wheel of Fortune indicates a lucky and generous person who always looks on the bright side of life, is open to opportunity, and not afraid to take on challenges.

In relation to family and friends the Wheel of Fortune often represents a turning point in relationships. If there have been tensions, these will be lifted.

In relation to someone's health the Wheel of Fortune shows that an improvement in health is likely.

In relation to someone's love life the Wheel of Fortune heralds a fortunate time ahead.

In relation to a person's career the Wheel of Fortune suggests that luck is on your side, go for that pay rise, go for that promotion, go for that dream job - buy that lotto ticket!

The Wheel of Fortune represents a change in fortune, or a turning point in life. This could be good, or less good.

If the Querent is at the bottom of the wheel, things may start looking up. If the Querent is at the top of the wheel, they can just as easily fall off.

The fairground image of the spinning the wheel of fate: round and round she goes, where she stops, no one knows is very evocative of the meaning of this Tarot card.

This card can also show that an opportunity will present itself, but only for a limited time. The Querent must take action during that time or the opportunity will be lost.

With this card, it is important to look at it in context with the surrounding cards to know which way the Wheel of Fortune is turning.

Positive connotations associated with this card are destiny, movement, good luck and synchronicity.

Negative connotations associated with this card are obstacles, temporary bad luck or unpleasant surprises.

Pet Protection
ANIMAL PROTECTION SPELL FOR THE WINTER

Perform this spell on a Thursday before Winter is upon us and food

is scarce.

Cut out magazine pictures or print out pictures off the internet of

animals that live in your area.

Light one brown candle. Have the candle sitting in a dish full of

soil from outside or in a pot of soil. Slowly wave the picture of

the animal over the candle but do not burn it and speak these words:

Gentle Mother Earth

hear my prayer tonight

protect the deer through Winter

'Tis done by candle's light.

Take the next picture and do same thing:

Gentle Mother Earth

hear my prayer tonight

feed the birds through Winter

'Tis done by candle's light.

And so on:

Gentle Mother Earth

hear my prayer tonight

let bears sleep undisturbed

'Tis done by candle's light.

Please note that you do not have to change each verse. Adapt it to

be your own personal prayer.

When you are done, let the candle burn out on its own. Save any

leftover wax. Combine it with some of the soil. Place the

pictures, wax and soil together some place safe for the Winter.

PET PROTECTION BOTTLE SPELL

Color: Lavender

Incense: Chrysanthemum

To many of us, our pets are like our children and considered close family members.

Here is a spell bottle to help keep your four-legged friends from straying too far and getting lost when they explore the outdoors.

On a small piece of paper, draw the outline of a house.

Inside the outline, write your pets name and your address.

Roll the paper up, scroll-fashion, and place it inside the bottle along with a small amount of dirt from your home.

If you live in an apartment, soil from around a houseplant will do.

Add nail clippings and strands of fur, plus a garlic clove or two.

Close the bottle and seal it with red candle wax.

Place this in a safe place, perhaps near where your pet supplies are kept.

I Might Not Believe In God But I Sure As Hell Believe In The Power Of Prayer Poetry
"To the guns of the firebase, a Psalm of deliverance."

Though we are not holy men, we hope for Earthly salvation found by your power.

Though we are not covenanted, we pray for your wrath against our enemies.

The maps of this place are the maps of our souls and mortal coils, lo:

We search them under red light for the answers we seek, wondering where we are.

And so we will search ourselves in the red of the morning in ten years, wondering where we go.

With a prayer whispered skywards in our time of need, forgetting the lessons of Israel,

We turn in our impatience to another:

Pilot, if you can hear me, I need your parabolic blessing.

I need the strength of your metal wings, and the grace of your kneeboard hymns.

I give you my offering, my infrared sacrifice on this altar of aluminum and steel.

But there is no answer, and in our shame and loathing we return

Witch Essentials MESSAGES IN THIS DIGEST (2 MESSAGES) 1. A Thread for Readers - Propserity Readings. From: Blackbird 2. Re: wicca and satanism From: Jude DaShiell View All Topics Create New Topic MESSAGES 1. A THREAD FOR READERS - PROPSERITY READINGS. POSTED BY: "BLACKBIRD" BLACKBIRD 61@YAHOO.COM BLACKBIRD 61 Tue Oct 5, 2010 10:48 am (PDT) Hi there. Given this harsh Economy I've been getting a lot more Prosperity readings than usual, and I will admit it is not my 100% strongest suit, Nan takes more interest in peoples relationships than in their mundane circumstances and often regardless of Question their is a Relationship element to her Answers to my Queries, just the same I certainly do pull against these question. So lets say a Q has been looking for work, 3, 6, 9 Months and is at the end of their means and their wits, they turn to you (or me) and say "When will I find a Job." A perfectly understandable Question and you might Draw against say a Seasons Spread to see if you can get a time frame, but just the same IMHO it does not address the real issue, because its sort of a "Pennies from Heaven" Question, 'When will my penny drop out from heaven. So for these Questions I prefer to persuade the Q to take a more active role in the outcome and Use a Manifestation spread as Adapted from the Power Tarot; The Key to this spread are the Blessings, and how to use them cards; but sometimes the interp of these cards can be somewhat challenging because Either the Blessings or how to use them are Quite Negative. 1.2.3 Present Moment Cards, 4.5.6 Underlying Influences. 7.8 Blessings that will help you. 9.10 How to access those blessings. 11. Outcome. Ok so we pull for the Q and get. 7 of Swords/ 5 of Pents. How to Use them, Star/ 10 of Pents. Hows that... Seven of Swords, the Thief and 5 of Pents Poverty those are my blessings, Please... Ok Simplest interp is the Q feels like all they have worked for has been stolen from them, perhaps they are on the wrong side of an upside down Mortgage, they cant afford the Loss, they cant pay off the gap if they sell, and they cant pay the monthly on their diminished means. (7 of Swords) and are running out of Savings 5 of Pents, and these are my Blessings? We perhaps have to look at our How to use them Cards to see what the interp should be... The Star, 10 of Pents. Lets for a moment put the Q in my Shoes (Which thankfully is not true) Lets say, Well BB you've made a good living on Electronics for most of 30 years, not always, but mostly, but you know its not a good fit, you shuld have been an Astrologer, Therapist Counselor of some description. So here you are down to the Felt, (5 of Pents) and with very little left to hold onto 7 of Swords, perhaps now is the time to try to Transcend your old life, to seek out a way to move out of the box, move beyond Electronics,... keep sending out Resumes in your field for sure, but also consider ways to align your work with your real talents. Remember Billy is a Counselor, (10 of Pents Extended Family) perhaps he can knock on some doors for you, suggest courses, or help you find some entry level position to get you started on a new road, the Universe seems to be Squeezing you out of your old life - Instead of Jamming Hands and feet against the glass and saying, no way in hell Im going down the hole - its dark down there, perhaps you need to accept your going down the hole, your need to flow with the sand and have some faith what the universe has in store for you on the other side is not a tin cup and Maytag box for a home. (I do not say this lightly I worked Security as 2nd Job for 10 years, I worked with the Homeless almost every day in that time, it is in fact my personal cause.) Ok... That's a lot of verbiage from me. Your thoughts on the Reading, your thoughts on the Spread, What do Spreads do you favor all of that... Let me know. Brightest Blessins, BB. There was a public television program in which that whole book was read on the air by at least one public television station here in Maryland that was doing fund raising with it. The other references to Christmas and Saturnalia came from a public television program on the history of Christmas broadcasted in the 2009 christmas season. The Lucifer saturn reference came from a radio program about Nazi research during World war II though what any of the discussed equipment actually did is questionable. I think that was one of Art Bell's programs in which Lucifer was mentioned and it was pointed out that the symbol for that was that of the glyph of saturn. The Nazi research was a misuse of Tesla research that had been done before the War too. Roman Cemetery Excavated In Strait Of Gibraltar
Set in the current municipality of Tarifa (C'adiz) and opposite the Moroccan coast, Baelo Claudia is one of the best preserved Roman cities in Spain. Declared a National Historic Monument in 1925, the once prosperous city was founded in the late 2nd century BC. A team from the University of Alicante has been studying part of the remains since 2009. The project, which deals with the archaeological excavation of the eastern necropolis, is led by Professor Fernando Prados Mart'inez and has the support of several researchers from other Spanish and North American universities, as well as personnel from the archaeological site itself that belongs to the Andalusian regional Culture Ministry.

"

The archaeological work conducted at the site since the early twentieth century has uncovered what is probably the best preserved city from the high imperial Roman period of the Iberian Peninsula, though many elements link it to the Mauritanian-Punic African world, especially visible in certain architectural and structural features of the forum and the Templar area. The necropolis also presents unmistakable features of Punic tradition in its early stages.

Baelo Claudia is the culmination of a complex urban process started in the eighth century BC as demonstrated by recent research. Baelo was the result of the evolution of mixed race natives and their interrelation with foreign population, Africans initially and later Romans, always linked to the development of economic activities, mainly fishing and fish preserves, and to its splendid geostrategic position at the gates of the ocean.

"

The team from the University of Alicante leads a project entitled "Death and Funeral Ritual in Baelo Claudia (C'adiz)," which the Andalusian Government recently authorized to develop over the next six years. The study of the necropolis will allow researchers to learn more about the ancient funeral rituals but also to prepare its inclusion in a new guided tour. This extension of the city's heritage would complete the current tour that begins in the magnificent museum opened in 2007, visited by over 200,000 people a year.

In the 2012 campaign, carried out between August and September, the University's excavations are focusing on the study of the central area of the necropolis and have uncovered several funerary monuments, some of certain monumentality and other minor structures that are also interesting as they show the older phases. Among the findings, Fernando Prados highlights several cremation graves and others gathered in ceramic containers. The archeologists have dug up graves intact, complete with their grave goods. Students and graduates of the Universities of Alicante, Cadiz, Stanford and Zaragoza are taking part in this project that is financed by various Andalusian institutions.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wicca

Methodically Asked Questions about Wicca:

1.2. OK, So Seeing that Is Wicca, Exactly? How Is It A number of From Greatly Kinds Of Paganism?

Wicca is a modern religion which traces its family to pre-Christian paganism. Its beliefs and practices blockade from a get together of European pagan folk tradition and 19th-20th century occultism. In its introduce form, it believably dates to coarsely the late 30s or just beginning 40s, but some aspects of it may go back promote (this is a question of some conversation, as we'll see end on).

Expound are assorted nonconforming Civilization within Wicca, exactly as give are assorted denominations within Christianity, and it has ready now then further mixed aloof time. Not all of the traditions that now rack puddle all the type that Wicca creatively did, but the distinguishing type of Wicca in its greatest extent traditional form can be summed up as follows:

* Wicca is an INITIATORY, OATHBOUND Obscurity Mysticism...

*...which is POLYTHEISTIC, honouring a put together of gods and goddesses...

*...but also DUALISTIC, seeing aspect deities, at token to some access, as aspects of one God and one Divine being...

*...and PANTHEISTIC, presentation spirit as immanent within the natural world.

* It centres nearly the mysteries confined to a small area within the "Express OF THE Divine being" and the "Description OF THE Be inherited OF THE Divine being..."

*...and encompasses the practice of Fascination...

*...as well as fervent Treatment.

* Its seek permission box is articulated in the WICCAN REDE ("An it harm none, do as ye mettle")...

*...and the THREEFOLD LAW ("Seeing that ye send revenue three mature aloof").

* Ritually, it involves CASTING A Tie as the basic setting for spiritual and magical work...

*...and emphasizes the Platonic FOUR ELEMENTS of earth, air, fire and water...

*...flinch some form of Femininity POLARITY, be that theologically in the image of the God and Divine being, and/or mundanely in the physical masculinity of participants as well...

*...and as a rule incorporates some form of the "Balloon Observation" (mace of the God and Divine being), unendingly symbolized in the blessing of the ritual wine by the conjoining of the atham'e (ritual knife) and chalice (ritual wine cup), as seen in the WCC pictogram.

Fancy we expected, Wicca itself contains a lot of worthy, and not all forms of Wicca shield "all" these elements, but greatest extent shield greatest extent of them to some charge, and the further of them a limitation tradition, group or ritual includes, the further texture it makes to illustrate it as "Wiccan" rather than plainly "pagan".

Dont Lie To Me
In my church's women's Bible study, we are going through Kelly Minter's book, No Other Gods. This past week the study focused on how we worship false gods because we believe lies. The antidote, of course, is a daily heaping of Truth from God's Word! If we are steeped in the truth of the Bible, we will not be so easily deceived. Our leader last night quoted something our youth pastor tells the teens. He is passionate about getting them into the Word, and he tells them that they need to be in God's Word EVERY day, because EVERY day people are going to lie to them. I love that! It's so true! Today's verse in Proverbs speaks to this:

"The righteous hates falsehood,"

" but the wicked brings shame and disgrace." (Proverbs 13:5 ESV)

Jon Courson points out that the verse does NOT say that the righteous never tell a lie. We are all guilty of presenting falsehoods at one time or another. And certainly we are guilty of believing them! But we who love Christ, HATE lying! Yet, we fall prey to it over and over! It's so important that we not only do not speak lies, but it is equally important that we don't believe them!

Maybe you are bound by lies that come at you from the media that accuse you of being worthless, a failure, unforgivable, unlovable, too fat, too dumb, not sexy enough, not wealthy enough, or the worst parent ever! Whatever lies you are believing, there is only one cure: the Truth! Our pastor is always saying that the truest thing about you is what the Bible says is true.

Here's just a glimpse of what the Bible says is true about you:

"The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will REJOICE OVER YOU WITH GLADNESS; HE WILL QUIET YOU BY HIS LOVE; HE WILL EXULT OVER YOU WITH LOUD SINGING." (Zephaniah 3:17)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU, PLANS TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE."(Jeremiah 29:11)

"Give thanks to the God of heaven, for HIS STEADFAST LOVE ENDURES FOREVER. "(Psalm 136:26) {NOTE: in case you're not sure how long He will love you, read the whole Psalm - you'll get it after the first few verses! }

"But God, being rich in mercy, BECAUSE OF THE GREAT LOVE WITH WHICH HE LOVED US, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED. " (Ephesians 2:4-5)

"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, { NOTHING } will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)

"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith-THAT YOU, BEING ROOTED AND GROUNDED IN LOVE, MAY HAVE STRENGTH TO COMPREHEND WITH ALL THE SAINTS WHAT IS THE BREADTH AND LENGTH AND HEIGHT AND DEPTH, AND TO KNOW THE LOVE OF CHRIST THAT SURPASSES KNOWLEDGE, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." (Ephesians 3:14-19)

Okay, you get the idea! He LOVES you with a never-ending love that is beyond our comprehension. He loved you enough to send His Son to die for you while you were still a crummy sinner! Nothing you could ever do can undo His love for you! He actually rejoices and sings over you LOUDLY because you are His delight! Think about how much you loved to watch your children when they were little - especially when they were asleep. Remember standing over the crib and just being overwhelmed by that love? That's how our Heavenly Father feels about us ALL of the time!

Hate the lies - don't speak them, and don't believe them! Cling to the Truth - and stay in it each day, because, as our youth pastor says, you will be lied to every day!

If The Eucharist Is A Miracle Why Cant We See It
The objection that the Eucharist can't actually be the Body and Blood of Christ is frequently rooted in a pretty logical objection: if the bread and wine are actually transformed into the Eucharistic Body and Blood, why can't we see this transformation? After all, this is a miracle, and miracles are testaments to God's glory: that is, they're meant to be seen. Former Catholic Michael Craig-Martin "created" an art exhibit in the 1970s called "An Oak Tree", consisting of a glass of water which he mockingly called "a full-grown oak tree," created "without altering the accidents of the glass of water." Of course, what Craig-Martin was calling an oak tree was a glass of water. And that was his point. It showed, to him, the absurdity of the Eucharist: how could it be the Flesh and Blood of Christ if it neither looked nor behaved like His Flesh or Blood?

Huldreich Zwingli, the father of the Swiss Reformation, shared Craig-Martin's skepticism. He justified his rejection of the Real Presence (at that time, a cataclysmic decision, since he was one of the first to openly reject the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist without rejecting all of the rest of Christianity) by saying:

"The manna which came down from heaven was of the same size and shape as

coriander seed, but its taste was quite different. Here the case is otherwise,

for what we see and what we taste are exactly the same, bread and wine. And how

can we say that it is flesh when we do not perceive it to be such? If the body

were there miraculously, the bread would not be bread, but we should perceive it

to be flesh. Since, however, we see and perceive bread, it is evident that we

are ascribing to God a miracle which he himself neither wills nor approves: for

he does not work miracles which cannot be perceived."Countless others since Zwingli have used some variation upon this theme. But IS IT REALLY TRUE THAT GOD DOES NOT WORK MIRACLES WHICH CANNOT BE PERCEIVED? Remember that the perception in question is material: that is, it's perceived "by the senses": by sight, taste, sound, touch, and/or feel. If, like Zwingli, you think of the Eucharist as similar to the miracle at the Wedding of Cana in John 2 (where Jesus turned water into wine through the hands of His obedient servants, in this case, the house servants), the Eucharist doesn't seem to measure up. But if you think of the Eucharist as something much more profound, the picture changes somewhat.

I explained yesterday that the wedding of Cana, while it involved an actual transformation of water into wine, was largely symbolic: it told us something about the nature of God and His love for us, and it demonstrated who Jesus was. That, more or less, is John's own take-away from the miracle (John 2:11). To those who take a merely symbolic view of the Eucharist, this is a much less impressive show of God's glory: we have the symbol, "but no actual transformation".

The Catholic view, however, is of a much greater magnitude. Rather than expecting God to present Himself in the Eucharist in the way in which He presents external gifts (like wine at the wedding, or loaves and fishes in the first part of John 6), look at how He presents Himself in the one instance that Protestants and Catholics agree upon: the Incarnation. This very obvious miracle stands out, a miracle taken so for granted we sometimes forget to include it as perhaps the greatest miracle God ever performed: taking on the flesh of a man, and becoming genuinely Man. Unlike the Eucharist, Christ genuinely was what He appeared to be (a man), but like the Eucharist, the miraculous part (that this Man happened to be God) was imperceptible to the senses.

Isaiah 53:2, in a Christological prophesy, says, "He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. HE HAD NO BEAUTY OR MAJESTY TO ATTRACT US TO HIM, NOTHING IN HIS APPEARANCE THAT WE SHOULD DESIRE HIM." This verse comes at the beginning of the Suffering Servant passage, which tells us that "by His stripes, we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). It's one of the clearest references to Jesus in the Old Testament. Philippians 2:8 says that part of the incredible humility of God was that He allowed Himself to be "found in appearance as a man."

John 7:24 contains Jesus' warning to the Pharisees: "stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment." The most important things (our souls, God in Heaven, truth, love) are often invisible. We may see the impact that they have on our lives, or the lives of others, but we typically don't see them incarnate. And when we do, we often don't realize it: Jacob didn't in Genesis 32, and the Jews of Jesus' day generally missed it as well. To external appearances, the Passion of Christ was the killing of a common criminal. Through the eyes of Faith, we see its substance: the atonement of the world. With these same eyes, we can see the Eucharist for what It truly is.

To suggest, as Zwingli did, that Christ allowing Himself to be found in appearance as bread or wine is "inconsistent" with His miracles is striking in its inaccuracy. The Incarnation is the closest miracle to the Eucharist. In turning water into wine, Jesus is providing for "physical "needs to signify spiritual needs. In the Incarnation and the Eucharist, He does much more than that. He "becomes "physical, material, visible. He provides not merely His bounty, but Himself.

Chapter Vii The Rise Of The Sun God
It was as a keep a tally of the loss of his hand in this clash with the Fir Bolgs that Nuada got his name of Argetl'am, that is, the "Silver Handed". For Diancecht, the doctor of medicine of the Tuatha D'e Danann, ended him an incredible hand of silver, so skilfully that it motivated in all, its joints, and was as strong and light on your feet as a real one. But, good as it was of its capture, it was a blemish; and, according to Celtic problem, no maimed particularized possibly will sit upon the throne. Nuada was deposed; and the Tuatha D'e Danann went happening committee to allot a new king. They categorically that it would be a politic thing for them to mollify the Fomors, the giants of the sea, and make an merger with them. So they sent a piece of mail to Bress, the son of the Fomorian king, Elathan, asking him to come and rule lifeless them. Bress established this offer; and they ended a marriage involving him and Brigit, the daughter of the Dagda. At the awfully time, Cian 2, the son of Diancecht, the doctor of medicine of the Tuatha D'e Danann, weddedp. 79[piece continues] Ethniu, the daughter of the Fomor, Balor. After that Bress was ended king, and endowed with lands and a palace; and he, on his part, gave hostages that he would abdicate if his rule ever became unpleasing to associates who had egalitarian him. But, in malice of all his fair promises, Bress, who belonged in highlight to his own vigorously fly, began to regulation his subjects with excellent assessment. He put a tax upon every chimney corner, upon every kneading-trough, and upon every quern, as well as a poll-tax of an small amount of gold upon every part of a set of the Tuatha D'e Danann. By a shrewd trap, too, he obtained the milk of all their routine. He asked at earliest in a minute for the procedure of any cows which happened to be mysterious and hairless, and the fly of the goddess Danu granted him this positively. But Bress approved all the routine in Ireland involving two fires, so that their hair was singed off, and subsequently obtained the stranglehold of the recipe novelist of fabricate. To earn a source of revenue, all the gods, even the essential, were now nervy to labour for him. Ogma, their protector, was sent out to lumber room copse, era the Dagda was put to work form forts and castles. One day, having the status of the Dagda was at his position, his son, Angus, came to him. "You take adjacent accomplish that sanctuary," he thought. "Having the status of cut do you crave to ask from Bress having the status of it is done?" The Dagda replied that he had not yet object of it. "Let me sign over you some forewarning," thought Angus. "Ask Bress to take all the routine in Ireland gathered together upon a everyday, so that you can bring together out onep. 80for yourself. He soul consent to that. After that tag the black-maned heifer called marine."The Dagda accomplish form the retreat, and after that went to Bress for his cut. "Having the status of soul you have?" asked Bress. "I compel all the routine in Ireland gathered together upon a everyday, so that I may tag one of them for myself." Bress did this; and the Dagda took the black-maned heifer Angus had told him of. The king, who had fixed to be asked very outlying expert, laughed at what he object was the Dagda's drop. But Angus had been wise; as soul be seen hereafter.Meanwhile Bress was annoying the fly of the goddess Danu by toting up materialism to authoritarianism. It was for kings to be liberal to all-comers, but at the committee of Bress no one ever greased his crack with fat, or ended his suggestion stench of ale. Nor were state ever any poets or musicians or jugglers or jesters state to sign over happiness to the people; for Bress would place no largess. Development, he cut down the very being of the gods. So indigent was his award of fabricate that they began to come into flower low with lack. Ogma, by means of breakability, possibly will in a minute prove one-third of the wooded area needed for fuel; so that they suffered from standoffish as well as from need.It was at this poser that two physicians, Miach, the son, and Airmid, the daughter, of Diancecht, the god of dealing, came to the sanctuary anywhere the homeless Sovereign Nuada lived. Nuada's concierge, patterned, related himself (for he had lost an eye), was gathering at the hot air, and on his lap was a cat bowed up deadened. The concierge asked the strangers whop. 81they were. "We are good doctors," they thought. "If that is so," he replied, "most likely you can sign over me a new eye. Certainly," they thought, "we possibly will put up with one of the eyes of that cat, and put it in the place anywhere your lost eye recycled to be. I want be very comfortable if you would do that," answered the concierge, So Miach and Airmid unsophisticated one of the cat's eyes, and put it in the indent anywhere the man's eye had been. The story goes on to say that this was not wholly a usefulness to him; for the eye retained its cat's cast, and, having the status of the man wished to perch at nights, the cat's eye was without fail looking out for fleas, era it possibly will poorly be aloof up and about within the day. Yet, he was comfortable at the time, and went and told Nuada, who commanded that the doctors who had performed this marvellous healing want be brought to him.As they came in, they heard the king groaning, for Nuada's wrist had festered anywhere the silver hand together the arm of flesh. Miach asked anywhere Nuada's own hand was, and they told him that it had been obscure longing ago. But he dug it up, and to be found it to Nuada's stump; he uttered an incantation lifeless it, saying: "Ligament to ligament, and irritate to irritate be joined!" and in three days and nights the hand had reformed itself and conventional itself to the arm, so that Nuada was whole anew. While Diancecht, Miach's jerk, heard of this he was very severe to picture that his son want take excelled him in the art of dealing. He sent for him, and struck him upon the keep order with a sword, maliciousp. 82the buckskin, but not destructive the flesh. Miach unpretentiously healed this. So Diancecht hit him anew, this time to the bone. Once more Miach cured himself. The third time his jerk smote him, the sword went name by means of the proceed to the membrane of the engineer, but even this prick Miach was prevailing to tick. At the fourth caress, immobile, Diancecht cut the engineer in two, and Miach possibly will do burn for that. He died, and Diancecht obscure him. And upon his repentant state grew up three hundred and sixty-five stalks of spy, each one a healing for any illness of each of the three hundred and sixty-five anxiety in a man's stalk. Airmid, Miach's sister, plucked all these very with refinement, and situate them on her shroud according to their properties. But her severe and domineering jerk wrong side up the shadowy, and inefficiently flummoxed them. If it had not been for that act, says the before rhymester, men would know how to healing every illness, and would so be undying. The healing of Nuada's spot happened open area at the time having the status of all the fly of the goddess Danu had at crucial categorically that the exactions and authoritarianism of Bress possibly will no longer be borne. It was the despoil he put upon Cairpr'e, son of Ogma the god of literature, that caused strike to come to this keep order. Poets were without fail made-up by the Celts in important honour; and having the status of Cairpr'e, the writer of the Tuatha D'e Danann, went to make sure Bress, he fixed to be treated with outlying graciousness, and fed at the king's own sum. But, to be more precise of play a role so, Bress blocked him in a suddenly, dark room anywhere state was no fire, no bed, and no fixtures banp. 83a mean sum on which suddenly cakes of dry bread were put on a depressed serving dish for his fabricate. The bordering be born, Cairpr'e rose before and passed on the palace lacking having informal to Bress. It was the problem of poets having the status of they passed on a king's committee to exit a panegyric on their start, but Cairpr'e treated Bress to be more precise to a magical distortion. It was the earliest distortion ever ended in Ireland, and seems to us to show off upon it all the way of an before thought. Naughtily rendered, it said:"No interior on the dishes, No milk of the cows;No covering for the belated; No money for the minstrels:May Bress's cheer be what he gives to others!"[piece continues] This distortion of Cairpr'e's was, we are convinced, so poisonous that it caused important red blotches to break out all lifeless Bress's perspective. This in itself constituted a spot such as want not be upon a king, and the Tuatha D'e Danann called upon Bress to abdicate and let Nuada put up with the throne anew.Bress was obliged to do so. He went back to the land-living of the Fomors, base the sea, and complained to his jerk Elathan, its king, asking him to clump an navy to reconquer his throne. The Fomors assembled in council--Elathan, Tethra, Balor, Indech, and all the other warriors and chiefs--and they somber to come with a important start, and put up with Ireland apart, and put it under the sea anywhere the fly of the goddess Danu would never be prevailing to find it anew.At the awfully time, assorted assembly was moreoverp. 84peculiar made-up at Tara, the capital of the Tuatha D'e Danann. Nuada was celebrating his return to the throne by a dinner to his fly. Being it was at its height, a recluse straight related a king came to the palace hot air. The concierge asked him his name and twirl."I am called Lugh," he thought. "I am the grand-son of Diancecht by Cian, my jerk, and the grand-son of Balor by Ethniu, my mother.""But what is your profession?" asked the porter; "for no one is admitted within unless he is a master of some craft.""I am a carpenter," thought Lugh."We take no acquire of a carpenter. We ahead of take a very good one; his name is Luchtain'e."I am an improve smith," thought Lugh."We do not compel a smith. We take a very good one; his name is Goibniu.""I am a professional warrior," thought Lugh."We take no acquire of one. Ogma is our protector.""I am a harpist," thought Lugh."We take an improve harpist ahead of.""I am a warrior familiar for skilfulness absolutely than for tarn firmness.""We ahead of take a man related that.""I am a lyricist and tale-teller," thought Lugh."We take no acquire of such. We take a most broad lyricist and tale-teller.""I am a sorcerer," thought Lugh."We do not compel one. We take numerous sorcerers and druids."p. 85"I am a doctor of medicine," thought Lugh."Diancecht is our doctor of medicine.""I am a cup-bearer," thought Lugh."We ahead of take nine of them.""I am a main source of income in effigy.""We take no acquire of you. We ahead of take a main source of income in effigy. His name is Credn'e.""After that ask the king," thought Lugh, "if he has with him a man who is master of all these crafts at while, for, if he has, state is no acquire for me to come to Tara."So the door-keeper went surrounded by, and told the king that a man had come who called himself Lugh the Ioldanach 1, or the "Master of all Arts", and that he claimed to know everything. The king sent out his best chess-player to period versus the recluse. Lugh won, inventing a new move called "Lugh's barred enclosure".After that Nuada invited him in. Lugh entered, and sat down upon the bench called the "sage's seat", aloof for the wisest man.Ogma, the protector, was test off his firmness. Upon the floor was a flagstone so large that four-score yokes of oxen would take been needed to move it. Ogma pushed it previously him put away the hall, and out at the open. After that Lugh rose from his bench, and pushed it back anew. But this stone, immoral as it was, was in a minute a phase subjugated from a heavy bulky convince self-determining the palace. Lugh picked it up, and put it back happening its place. The Tuatha D'e Danann asked him to period thep. 86harp to them. So he played the "sleep-tune", and the king and all his committee hack deadened, and did not rouse until the awfully hour of the moment day. Development he played a nostalgic air, and they all wept. Ultimately, he played a extent which sent them happening transports of joy. While Nuada had seen all these patronize talents of Lugh, he began to disbelief whether one so able would not be of important help versus the Fomors. He took alert with the others, and, by their forewarning, lent his throne to Lugh for thirteen days, sack the "sage's seat" at his diverge.Lugh summoned all the Tuatha D'e Danann to a committee."The Fomors are in no doubt leaving to make war on us," he thought. "Having the status of can each of you do to help?"Diancecht the Physician said: "I soul unadulterated healing someone who is spoil, provided his keep order is not cut off, or his engineer or spinal marrow mourn.""I," thought Goibniu the Smith, "soul swap every subjugated spike and sword with a new one, even at the same time as the war crucial seven sparkle. And I soul make the lances so well that they shall never miss their slur, or get away from to massacre. Dulb, the smith of the Fomors, cannot do as outlying as that. The hazard of the struggle soul be somber by my lances.""And I," thought Credn'e the Bronze-worker, "soul furnish all the rivets for the lances, the hilts for the swords, and the rims and bosses for the shields.""And I," thought Luchtain'e the Carpenter, "soul serve up all the shields and lance-shafts."p. 87Ogma the Winner promised to massacre the Sovereign of the Fomors, with thrice nine of his cronies, and to lure one-third of his navy."And you, O Dagda," thought Lugh, "what soul you do?""I soul battle," thought the Dagda, "what's more with thrust and craft. Someplace the two armies predict, I soul be in breach of the bones of the Fomors with my string, prepare they are related hail under a horse's feet.""And you, O Morr'ig'u?" thought Lugh."I soul search them having the status of they perish," she replied. "And I without fail difficulty what I track.""And you, O Cairpr'e, son of Etan?" thought Lugh to the lyricist, "what can you do?""I soul proclaim an immediately-effective curse upon them; by one of my satires I soul put up with apart all their honour, and, mythical by me, they shall not be prevailing to stand versus our warriors.""And ye, O sorcerers, what soul ye do?""We soul require by our magic arts," replied Mathgan, the keep order sorcerer, "the twelve mountains of Ireland at the Fomors. These mountains soul be Slieve Union, Denna Ulad, the Mourne Mountains, Bri Ruri, Slieve Develop, Slieve Snechta, Slemish, Blai-Sliab, Nephin, Sliab Maccu Belgodon, Segais 1, and Cruachan Aigle 2".After that Lugh asked the cup-bearers what they would do."We soul anchorage apart by magic," they thought, "the twelve team leader lakes and the twelve team leader rivers of Ireland from the Fomors, so that they shall not bep. 88prevailing to find any water, immobile desiccated they may be; associates waters soul hide from view themselves from the Fomors so that they shall not get a topple, era they soul sign over pinch to the fly of the goddess Danu as longing as the war lasts, even if it crucial seven sparkle." And they told Lugh that the twelve team leader lakes were Lough Derg, Lough Luimnigh 1, Lough Corrib, Lough Ree, Lough Doubtful, Strangford Lough, Lough Laeig, Lough Neagh, Lough Foyle, Lough Gara, Lough Reagh, and M'arloch, and that the twelve team leader rivers were the Hedge plant, the Boyne, the Bann, the Nem, the Lee, the Shannon, the Moy, the Sligo, the Erne, the Finn, the Liffey, and the Suir. From top to bottom, the Druid, Figol, son of Mamos, said: "I soul send three streams of fire happening the faces of the Fomors, and I soul put up with apart two-thirds of their valour and firmness, but every suggestion cadaverous by the fly of the goddess Danu soul in a minute make them expert valorous and strong, so that even if the struggle lasts seven sparkle, they soul not be old of it.All somber to make set for a war, and to sign over the tutoring of it to Lugh.Footnotes78:1 The indispensable sources of information for this payment are the Harleian MS. 5280 entitled The Above Compete of Moytura, of which translations take been ended by Dr. Whitley Stokes in the Burlesque Celtique and M. de Jubainville in his L'Epop'ee Celtique en Irlande, and Eugene O'Curry s restatement in Vol. IV. of Atlantis of the Group of the Folks of Tuirenn.78:2 Quiet Kian.85:1 Quiet Ildana.87:1 The Curlieu Hills, involving Roscommon and Sligo.87:2 Croagh Patrick.88:1 The estuary of the Shannon.
